Taking on blocks and play recognition are his two primary growth opportunities on tape. He already improved both during the Senior Bowl week based on what we saw on tape. The only thing actually holding him back would be a bad medical on the shoulder or knee. Everything else he has passed with flying colors against the rest of the field at LB.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Sat Mar 05, 2022 7:34 pmNDSU tape is not good tape of him.CatsNoMatterWhat wrote: ↑Sat Mar 05, 2022 7:03 pmI honestly see him catching fire like Vander Esch. 2nd round or maybe even low first.
Maybe I’m crazy, but it just feels like he’s going to blow the ceiling off this pre-draft process and there is ZERO bad tape on him.
Vander Esch isn’t a very good comp imo. A lot bigger, not the athlete, and better tape against better competition. Troy has more potential though, and should be better in coverage.

He’d be mid-1st at worst had he played at a FBS P5 school and put up his production on the field.CatsNoMatterWhat wrote: ↑Sat Mar 05, 2022 7:03 pmI honestly see him catching fire like Vander Esch. 2nd round or maybe even low first.

By his numbers and size he is what you’d dream up for a first round NFL MLB. Will New England or Houston take a shot?

So opinions…looking back does everyone think playing RB and QB helped or hurt Troy? Curious to hear people’s takes.
I think maybe some of his instinctual stuff could have improved by not playing anything but LB. But on the flip side, the multi-tool athlete garnered significantly extra media attention and stand out talking points for him. I think it helped his exposure.

Kinda like playing multiple sports in high school right? It made him better overall and he still has so much room to grow in his position.tdub wrote: ↑Sat Mar 05, 2022 8:12 pmSo opinions…looking back does everyone think playing RB and QB helped or hurt Troy? Curious to hear people’s takes.

Re: Troy Freaking Andersen!
Any researchers out there want to find where Troy’s 40 time ranks all time for guys over 240 LBs? Gotta be top 10 all time, right?

Re: Troy Freaking Andersen!
I looked back through data all the way to the 2002 combine. I could only find one off ball linebacker prospect who was 240+ and ran as fast as Troy (Micah Parsons).
Insane.
Pro Football Reference used to allow you to sort combine data really easily, but you have to pay for it now.

Re: Troy Freaking Andersen!
What was Ezzard's time from Sam Houston? Can we officially call the SHSU homer guy from the playoff game broadcast and tell him that TA was in fact the fastest man on the field?
