During Bobby's first stint, I agree that he had a juggernaut and MSU was pitiful. Our stadium looked like a high school field. The band was pitiful. And Bobby was an absolutely classless jerk. The way he treated the MSU announcers who would try to do an interview; the way he interacted with his own student newspaper, his childish comments about Bozeman. Having said this I am frankly amazed that UM has had the success they have had at the same time that MSU has experienced such success. Normally, it is very difficult for BOTH teams in a state to maintain a high level of success at the same time. In most cases when one program goes up the other one drops. I'm not sure how long this can continue, with both programs being top FCS at the same time.
Money. That's why MSU has slowly risen from the ashes and why um continues to do well. As long as they continue to invest in their programs, success will follow.

Bobcat athletics is a business to the coaches, school leadership, and players. It's time the fans treat Bobcat athletics as a business too.

MSU started the 2002-09 stretch with 2 BSC titles and three playoff trips during in first 4 years in the 16-team bracket. Got hit with an APR violation and a coach selling meth, then a coach fired after spring ball. Pitiful for 3 years but considering the circumstances they did pretty well.

UM’s success has mostly come in the last three years and has been mixed and inconsistent. Missed playoffs first year, good 2nd, good 3rd, mediocre 4th, good 5th, mediocre 6th, good 7th. I wouldn’t say they’re maintaining a high level of success.

UNC, EWU, and PSU are the only real outliers not currently increasing investment in football. The other schools certainly are. UC Davis just announced a huge influx of cash in athletic facilities. Weber, and Poly have recently built or are building new football facilities. NAU has a relatively new sports training and football facility too. I don't know about Tech and Southern Utah though. Idaho State may also be an outlier.

Put isu, ui, su and Weber on the list of not keeping up. Davis is new, hasn't been on the list until last year because now they decided they want to go to FBS in the MW. Suck state is a recent but hadn't kept up with Montana schools. Poly? I would have to relook at them. Nau maybe.

Hauck was the coach from 2003-09. 7 seasons
We’re both wrong. I was thinking he started in 2002.
Titles for MSU during Hauck 1.0 in 2003, 2005
Playoffs in 2003, 2006

I saw the time frame 2002 to 2009.
I was wrong on playoff berths, but the 2005 Bobcat should have the playoffs over the gris.

Hotels are too expensive in Bozeman, probably have to put that statue in Livingston as well.

They’ll need to bring in a professional from Italy to get the nose right.
