Bobcat athletics is a business to the coaches, school leadership, and players. It's time the fans treat Bobcat athletics as a business too.

Yep. Now that most of the Covid year players have exhausted their eligibility I think a lot of teams will have smaller senior classes this year.rollo_tumasi wrote: ↑Thu Jul 31, 2025 11:19 pmDo we really only have 9 Seniors this year on the roster??

We were lucky to get him back this year. I think there were a few FBS schools who tried really hard to get him to transfer. I believe Choate was one of them....

He made a point of telling the media how much he loves it at MSU.
MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Yeah, Choate has been trying to snag some MSU players for a few years now. I hear Taco, Adam, and Titan were all offered by FBS programs.

Yeah, Powdrell, Polidore, Rohan, Humphrey, and Moore, to name a few. I don't doubt there were other players as well. The FBS leaches are certainly out looking at successful FCS programs for talent that they can't develop themselves. The Butcher wrote: ↑Fri Aug 01, 2025 8:41 amI am sure there are several others too.AFCAT wrote: ↑Fri Aug 01, 2025 8:39 amYeah, Choate has been trying to snag some MSU players for a few years now. Re: Fall Camp
Hard to say with any certainty but it could be a good thing. If players are looking to "move up" but have to "settle" for FCS, then they're most likely going to go to schools that have had lots of players that have had success that way.AFCAT wrote: ↑Fri Aug 01, 2025 8:49 amYeah, Powdrell, Polidore, Rohan, Humphrey, and Moore, to name a few. Back in the old days most players would slowly work their ways into the starting lineup and be happy to be starting by the time they're a junior. No one would really know them until then and they'd play two years. It may continue to become a thing where they play those two years on the front end and move on. From a fans perspective you still get to see two years of the player. Granted, it's more satisfying the other way but if you want to be one of the 'haves' you might want to see this kind of 'leaching.' I think SDSU will test this to the max this year. As of right now, I just think that the three teams with the best developmental programs are NDSU, SDSU and MSU. Developing players as a top priority and letting the portal do its thing seems to be better than going to the portal and hoping some of your recruits develop into stars.

Loss will be inevitable in the offseason, but if we can minimize it, there should be a lot of talent and playing experience returning next year.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Fri Aug 01, 2025 7:31 am9 Seniors, 18 Juniors. I’m ready to enjoy this year, but it’s exciting to think about how this roster is built and how we should, in theory, be stacked for the next few years and beyond.

Re: Fall Camp
I enjoyed Colter's interview with Sam Herder earlier this week in which he basically made this same point. On the surface you look at the list of players SDSU and MSU lost and it looks really bad, but in reality both teams recruit and develop players so well that the cupboard is far from empty and both teams have young talent that are ready to step in and take on greater roles. I think NDSU, SDSU, and MSU are the clear top three programs at the FCS level right now in terms of setting themselves up to keep having success in the transfer portal era without having to rely on transfer portal lottery tickets year after year.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 01, 2025 9:07 amHard to say with any certainty but it could be a good thing. Re: Fall Camp
Imagine if you can how DOMINANT our OLINE would’ve been if guys had stuck around?? Over the years, the difference between us and the DSU’s has been dominant line play. They had 3-4yr starters that stick around. Ours over the past four years have left for money. If they would have stuck around for National Titles instead, we might have one or two this century.

We have one of the oldest young teams in the country with how much playing time everyone got in the second half of games last year.Catsrgrood wrote: ↑Fri Aug 01, 2025 9:10 amLoss will be inevitable in the offseason, but if we can minimize it, there should be a lot of talent and playing experience returning next year.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Fri Aug 01, 2025 7:31 am9 Seniors, 18 Juniors. Outside of QB there shouldn't be much drop off. Our kickoff and punt coverage teams may also actually get to hit a few guys this year.
