Found flights today for $150 from Minneapolis.
$600 from Helena, I'm out.
I have been watching flights close every day since I'm an almost broke college student but Delta is sitting strong at $470 out of Helena if you can get out of town on Thursday

None of the teams that SMU beat last year should scare the cats. As someone stated, the SFA game was strange with SFA having 10 turnovers.

I think the cats will play this one well, similar to the Utah game.

The only concern would be the weather... Texas in early September can be 100 degrees with 90 percent humidity... And that senerio has never been good for msu or UM.

2012 SMU L's
Baylor 59-24
Texas A&M 48-3
TCU 24-16
Tulane 27-26
Central Florida 42-17
Rice 36-14

2012 SMU W's
Stephen F. Austin 52-0
UTEP 17-0
Houston 72-42
Memphis 44-13
Southern Miss 34-6
Tulsa 35-27
Fresno State 43-10

I was looking at the SMU 2-deep spring roster and it is immediately striking if you cover up the names you think you are looking at the Bobcats...except for the #1 rb who is listed at 6-0, 260. Otherwise you see a bunch of mostly young players and it appears the Bobcat OL may be bigger than theirs. Not all that normal for us to match up size wise with a Texas FBS OL.
We are sandwiched in between Texas Tech and Texas A&M, a good place to be, I think.

From where the sun now stands here in April, what do you feel our chances of beating SMU are?

Pretty good actually, I could see us making a good run of it provided we pick up the new offense a little faster than last year.

Dallas is a great town. You have to experience lower greenville, which is not far from SMU. The best hotel near it is the Anatole which is a Hilton hotel. SMU will be a better experience than Stephen F. SMU will be tough to beat. They are a FBS team and will have tons of speed!!

If the real Pony shows up SMU will be tough to beat, however, if the Phony Pony is prominent Bobcats will roll...

I agree that Dallas is a great city but lower greenville was a good place to go 10 years ago. NOT the best today. I would consider uptown, the knox/henderson area or even downtown a much much much better place to go. Hilton Anatole is a huge hotel and nice. The OMNI Downtown is new and very nice. The Marriott downtown is also a good option. Sits right on the DART rail, which has a stop right across the freeway from the stadium. This hotel also just went through an extensive rehab and is in close proximity to the nightlife and restaurants and bars. For those that want to spend a little more cash, The Ritz and Hotel ZaZa are both well located in the heart of uptown. Another option would be Hotel Palomar, which is a botique hotel located across the freeway from the Stadium.

SMU?... They have the dubious distinction of being the only NCAA program to suffer the "Death Penalty." Violations worse than those perpetrated by UM resulted in cancellation of the entire 1987 football season. It basically gutted Mustang football for two decades. As for Dallas...Booooring! Visit Dealey Plaza, Southfork where the other shooting (Dallas tv series) was shot - and oh yeah, the home base studio for "Cheaters" on yes - no kidding - Lovers Lane. Woo woo!... But the woman in your life will be able to do a lot of high end shopping before she - and your wallet - drop. Actually Ft Worth -an oversized Bozeman just next door to Dallas and home to TCU - is a whole lot more fun.

PS: UM prexy Royce Engstrom tried to cancel the 2013 Griz season - without NCAA help - but got nixed in Helena.

According to the NCAA. Of course, the NCAA's definition of "bad" is mainly related to their own image.

Is taking money from a booster really "worse" than rape? Maybe if your definition of "worse" is less moral and more practical, I guess.

And yeah, I know, this isn't actually the place for that discussion. I just can't see that and not at least raise the question.

Today is SMU's day to be discussed on reddit.

Traditions

SMU's tailgating scene is known as The Boulevard, which started when football returned to campus in 2000. Free beer, music, food and people-watching makes for a good time. The only problem with it is convincing fans to leave and head towards the football game before kickoff. It's modeled The Grove at Ole Miss.

SMU's mascot Peruna will run across the field after touchdowns and at the end of each quarter.

The Mustang Band will regularly change uniforms before and during football games. They are known as "The Best-Dressed Band in the Land" and have more than 30 uniform combinations to choose from for each game. They are to bands what the Oregon Ducks are to football. The band specializes in jazz music.

Each season a player is selected to wear the #23 jersey in honor of Jerry LeVias (currently LB Stephon Sanders).

The SMU hand signal is "Pony Ears", which is made by slightly curling the index and middle fingers. If you curl too far it looks like TCU's and no one wants that.
Here's an interesting tidbit in the "Random Trivia" section:
SMU's mascot, Peruna, has an interesting history. In 1935 he traveled to New York City as SMU was taking on Fordham. After taking a cab to the stadium, Peruna I met Fordham's mascot on the field and kicked and killed the ram. A week later Peruna I died when he wandered off onto Mockingbird lane and was killed by a speeding car. The name Peruna derives from a popular "cure-all" tonic. (There are also rumors that Peruna tried to mount Texas Tech's horse and knocked Bevo to the ground with a kick.)

It's a tough pull to do for most but right now you can fly Frontier out of Bozeman on Sept 5th (Thursday) into DFW and return September 9th (Monday) for $278.

Lot of missed days of work/school but you get some Bobcat football and the Cowboys/Giants opening game is that Sunday night in Dallas

Seriously? Hahahaha. I thought we covered this already. MSU honored the contract. It had a buyout deadline option and we used it to get a sixth home game and come out at least $500,000 in the black. Read the contract and quit whining NDSU people.
