It's all about timing, Cats are loaded with young talent at LB right now. Almost certain he would rise to the top, he has the ability to be 3 or 4 year starter. He just started wrestling late this year for Bozeman and made it to state, I believe 5th place, which isn't something just anyone can do. Goes to show how good of an athlete he is. I don't remember if he had wrestled the last couple years or not. Regardless where ever he ends up, he is going to dominate.RobertCats wrote:Thanks Vim, then here's hoping he gets a great opportunity to play somewhere else! Just not to the west of us or anywhere else in the Big Sky, kid has a lot of talent, don't really want to have to face him in the future!

But he did get to play the toughest defenses in class A every year:VimSince03 wrote:He did. He got two or three star ratings from all of the scout sites (which really means nothing because those sites are clueless on Montana athletes). I had him ranked as the 17th best prospect out of Montana this year and at one point I had him as high as 7th. Looking at our current QB situation, I don't think we "missed" on anyone. Warp finished his career as statistically the best passer in Montana high school football history. If we missed on Warp, so did everybody else. At the FCS level, Dartmouth offered him for football. That was it from what I know.BigBruceBaker wrote:I thought he committed to Carroll to play baseball?Merlin wrote:I am new to the forum, I was wondering why MSU hasn't recruited Dane Warp. I believe he was offered PWO's at both Utah and Stanford. Choate contacted him, but it was after he had pretty much decided to go to Carroll. And as far as the tough defense comment...I believe Mariani played against those defenses also...he seemed to turn out ok...Montanabob wrote:But he did get to play the toughest defenses in class A every year:VimSince03 wrote:He did. The Central A conference has struggled the last few years in terms of being competitive with the rest of the conferences, especially Lewistown, Livingston, and Browning. However, Havre definitely deserved to be in the final four in 2015. They competed with the best teams in the Eastern A. They had enough talent. The top three teams were Dillon, Whitefish, and Miles City. Warp played well against good competition over the past four years.Hmmmm wrote:I believe he was offered PWO's at both Utah and Stanford. Mariani was a walk on at UM. Warp isn't a big sky quarterback at least from the games I've seen. I hope he does well at Carrol but I see him as an average player at best in the frontier. I've watched him play basketball more than football and I just don't see a big time college talent on either side. I hope I'm wrong him and my brother are good friends and Dane is a good kid, all the best to himHmmmm wrote:I believe he was offered PWO's at both Utah and Stanford. Heard from multiple sources that Chris Jackson was a non-qualifier so it doesn't appear he will be signing with MSU anytime soon. Kids with that speed who don't get signed on Feb. 3 usually have an issue or two. Hope the best for the kid.

I watched Dane at the Eastern A basketball tournament this week and he was the best player in the tournament. Hadley was a close 2nd. Dane scored at will off the dribble. If he can improve his 3 point shot he will be a very good player in the Frontier. Never saw him play football but he has the build of a football player.Hi-Line Bobcat wrote:Mariani was a walk on at UM. Warp isn't a big sky quarterback at least from the games I've seen. I would agree...I always thought he had more up-side as a football player...very athletic...throws a really nice ball and, I believe, is a 4.0 student. Really wants to go on to medical school someday.BDizzle wrote:I watched Dane at the Eastern A basketball tournament this week and he was the best player in the tournament. Hadley was a close 2nd. You guys want some recruit speculation? Because I'm going to throw out some names. This is 100% speculation. Zero inside info:
Robert Coleman - DT (6'2", 305 lbs.) - Mesa Community College (may be either a junior or senior; follows Coach Hout on twitter) http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2480524/highlights
John Walker - CB (5'9", 180 lbs.) - University of Colorado (he would be a possible senior transfer; was a junior for the Buffs last year but posted his highlight film in mid-January 2016; is now following Choate, Alexander, and Pitre on twitter; they follow back; connecting the dots, there wouldn't really be a reason for Walker to recently follow Choate and Alexander if he were still a member of the Buffs) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5CHA2YFn5g
Brenden Schooler - FS (6'3", 190 lbs.) - Mission Vejo, CA (a high school recruit who didn't sign with anyone on signing day; was an All-CIF, All-League, All-State, and All-County safety for Mission Vejo and the was 2015 West Valley defensive MVP; visited Wyoming prior to signing day but didn't commit; he follows a ton of coaches on twitter, especially FCS and Big Sky coaches; however, three of our coaches (Alexander, Ioane, and Matt Miller) follow him back; Ioane was his primary recruiter) http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2617784/brenden-schooler
So there ya go. Fitting what our holes still are on defense, these three would make sense. Again, all just speculation but...

If Walker would be a senior, he wouldn't be eligible to drop to FCS due to the two year eligibility transfer rule?

May be a senior in football eligibility but a graduate senior in terms of academics. Graduate transfers can go where they choose, as we all know very well due to the Prukop situation.CelticCat wrote:If Walker would be a senior, he wouldn't be eligible to drop to FCS due to the two year eligibility transfer rule?

Regardless, coaches like Choate and Alexander wouldn't have started to just follow him on twitter if they weren't interested. Obviously they would be looking for a guy to transfer who has eligibility left so that should be a given.LTown Cat wrote:Or he could still have a redshirt. Not if he only had one year of eligibility left. If he has only one year, then he must be a graduate student. The no-penalty rule applies to athletes that have 2 or more years left.lutecat wrote:Or he could be FBS which would allow him to drop down to FCS without penalty......
