I hardly ever feel like I'm defending myself or Skyline, I just like having discussions with you all! I know we put ourselves in the line of fire by being on the boards all the time but it's a decision I made years ago because I think it's important for our business and our brand. And I want myself and all of us to seem accessible and like your buddies you're BSing with at the tailgates.

I also enjoy describing what we do. It helps me hone it in and make it great. And it's great to have transparency with your audience, as it also helps with you guys knowing what's coming up and what we produce so you can be an engaged audience!
Every time you respond to someone with a paragraphs long response I always think "Don't read the comments!" but I'm glad you care enough to spend time here. Keep up the good work!

Eastwood, did not make it. Ball out! Recovered, by Montana State!! The Bobcats hold!!! The Bobcats hold!!!

I love Mikey, but I do wish there was somebody with a little more pep and humor on there for us. Love when JP is on.
Love JP too! Colter does an excellent job being a neutral and bringing in people on both sides, I’ve just been annoyed by the narrative coming from people interviewed most recently about the results of the Brawl. Perhaps my post was poorly worded and seemed directed at Skyline, when I actually just was frustrated by a narrative going around. Another Gris guy who is incredibly neutral and getting leaps and bounds better at media is Akem. Love when him and Colter get together on a pod.
Always remember too that I'm only one man and I spend about 70 hours a week on all of this, and 108 (I tracked it this year) when it's rivalry week

But honestly, the content on Nuanez Now (which I'm guessing you listened to Monday's shows with Tootell and Marty) is made for a statewide audience but Monday's shows have a Griz lean mostly because Marty is a Griz Hall of Famer and that's the day he can come in. The rest of the week is formulaic and we try to balance it as much as possible while still catering to our biggest portion of the audience, which around Western Montana on the terrestrial radio.

Tuesdays is Prep Tuesdays for the first hour, the first look at opponents for Cats & Griz, then our Griz Star of the Week after Montana gets done with practice. Wednesday is Sam Herder, the Montana State Minute with a Bobcat player, Wing it Wednesday talking baseball/hockey depending on the season, the ESPN Roundtable which can go either way in terms of Cats, Griz or preps, then we have either a Griz soccer or Griz football sponsored interview.

Thursdays, we feature the opposing coaches that play the Cats & Griz, a high school coach from around Montana, Brooks Nuanez on the NFL Griz hockey with a giveaway and typically a Montana State assistant coach or sound from Vigen. Fridays, Rajiem Seabrook and I talk about Montana news from every sport all over the state, play "smart or dumb" with NFL story lines, feature our "prep hot ticket" with the best high school games coming up that weekend, then Carolyn the Chick who doesn't know sports does her comedy bit and we have the Garden City Spotlight with a high school football coach from Missoula going into Friday night's games.

Nuanez Now does have slightly more Griz content than Bobcat content because while we have a pretty sizeable statewide audience on TV, the stream and the podcast (they say about 17,000 per show), we also have a radio audience of more than 20,000 a day that is on in Western Montana.

In terms of Skyline -

I get a coach and player from the teams that Montana State and Montana play each week. We also get two Griz players, two Bobcat players, and a Bobcat assistant coach for content.

For our analysts, I want Tootell, Brooks, Sammy and Stuber to all be neutral, even if they have expertise leaning one way or the other. Brooks is the best person about talking about the Bobcats that exists in Montana media today.

We have Bobcat-leaning contributors in Mike Rider, Ty Gregorak, JP Flynn, Leo Davis and occasionally Keaton Gillogly.

We have Griz-leaning contributors in Jordan Tripp and Andrew Schmidt and most of the rest I keep on the radio instead of on Skyline like Marty etc \:D/

The No. 1 reason that the Griz guys are more consistent is they mostly work directly in media. Brooks works with me now at Missoula Broadcasting in addition to Skyline. Sammy does fundraising for high school sports teams and works as much as anyone on Skyline stuff, which I'm so proud of him for. Jordan does construction investment but focuses heavily on broadcasting. Marty is retired. And Tootell runs a trucking company but when he's home and not driving, he's very available. He also lives one block from the station so he's basically on call haha.

Rider has 3 jobs and is the busiest person I've ever met haha. Gregorak has two kids playing five different sports and is a regional manager for a big-time surgical equipment company and he's pretty much tied with Rider for most busy. JP has a blended family with teenage kids, works full-time as an engineer and coaches high school sports. Leo is the AD for a tribal school. And Keaton is on an airplane every two days during cross over season. They are harder to track down!

Point being, we are doing the best we can! I love the feedback. I PROMISE I try my hardest to give you guys the most content possible from the most excellent team of bright sports minds I can think of assembling. We aren't perfect and we never will be. But we appreciate you reading, listening, watching, discussing and following along!
So what I'm getting from this is griz tend to be slackers and Cats are way harder workers and family is a priority for them but not the griz....

I notice you dont have the R&R's on anymore. Not our R&R but Rainey and Riley. Is the college not making Riley available anymore? Don't get me wrong I think he's a little strong on the rose tinted glasses for someone that used to be employeed by the Cats. But the San Diego kid was an okay listen. Though for the "Montana sports director" a little heavily griz biased. But Shaun can be a fun listen. I'd love for you to have him on to discuss all the strengths the Dodgers will have on their team next year. Or is this just 2 other media companies not wanting their employees on your show?

This is the type of highlight reels I want to see. That thing MSU put out after the game is a downgrade from what they used to do. Tell the story of the game. Nicely done.
Pretty sure the team account posted both a social media recap and then a cinematic recap as well. “That thing” that they posted after the game was sweet and it’s possible to cater to both the old heads like you from time to time with long form recaps but the younger crowd/players/recruits have loved those short form videos all season.

Just my 2 cents but MSU has been way ahead of the FCS and most G5 schools with the content they produce.
Yeah, I saw it and posted the MSU cinematic re-cap on another thread.

Rainey is so busy! We are still partners as SWX airs my radio show every day from 4-6 p.m. He has had a lot of turnover on his staff while simultaneously having two pre-teen boys are living baseball and basketball. And of course he's coaching. So we do a monthly SWX spotlight.

Here's the latest:

https://open.spotify.com/episode/4GanE8 ... 6047c24a44

In terms of Riley...I can't say much. But my broadcasting company made a run at the Learfield contract so we could have the rights to broadcast the Griz games. We did not get it. Town Square, the corporate conglomerate and competition, kept it. Then they launched a daily evening drive time talk show in direct competition with mine that Riley appears on frequently. So that's that.

@Colter_Nuanez Does Bozeman have an ESPN radio affiliate that you could get broadcast on? I know Billings does. Have you tried jumping on their schedule(s)?
There are only three locally owned and operated radio companies left in Montana. All the rest are part of an even larger corporate basically monopoly known as Town Square. Everything about working for local surpasses everything about working for corporate except when it comes to syndication.

There was not a Bozeman ESPN radio affiliate until two years ago. Now there is. It's a Town Square station. It would be incredibly difficult to get them to pick up a non-TS show. It could happen. But the most likely scenario is I would pitch them one and they would just start their own. It's already happened in multiple other markets in Montana.

I have a Bozeman radio show on Thursdays with Dave Wooten on 106.9 FM KSKY Country. We talk Bobcat football for about 20 minutes. When I remember, I post it on Skyline. I'll post this week's once I Get back to the studio. I've explored doing a weekly show with them. It's hard though because it's not really conducive to break format on a music station for an hour or 2-hour talk show.

This is all to say we are working on it.

@Colter_Nuanez First off thanks for all you do for coverage of both programs, like many on here I've been reading/listening to your content from the very beginning and I've always enjoyed it. That being said I still use Skyline as the go-to for finding your content, is there a better spot to find a more comprehensive catalog of all the content you're creating? Based on what you listed in your previous post in this thread I had no idea that most of the content you listed even existed.

I think we need a marketing campaign to diversify the two products  Everything we do for Skyline - podcasts, YouTube shows, features, photo galleries, etc — is found at skylinesportsmt.com. You can also find the Big Sky Breakdown podcast series on all podcast hosting platforms. And please subscribe to our YouTube! - https://www.youtube.com/@skylinesports1861

The stuff including all the preps coverage is on my ESPN Radio/TV show. That can be found LIVE on 102.9 FM around Western Montana, on SWX Montana television state side and on the ESPN MT app. You can also live stream it 1029espn.com. You can also find it archived on YouTube, Facebook. And it's podcasted on Nuanez Now podcast - Please click here to subscribe - https://open.spotify.com/show/4wBXFpIW0 ... 9c9ac04faf

I dont know if they'd do it but what about KGLT im Bozeman? They do a 10am Monday show from NPR.

And Butte has a locally owned and operated company doesn't it?

Is the Eagle in Bozeman not local?

The Eagle and KSKY are both local! Same company. That's one of the three I referenced. Thinking harder, there's five - Missoula Broadcasting, Montana Radio in Helena, Silver Star (Eagle, KSKY) in Bozeman, the company in Butte and Desert Horse in Billings.

It bugs the crap out of me when people on here gripe about Colter's content having guests they don't like. If you don't want to listen to Griz-heavy content just switch off the damn podcast or radio and go about your day, no need to come online to complain about it. He makes plenty of Bobcat content as well and is under zero obligation to ensure each school gets exactly equal time every week.
There’s a difference between criticizing the guests and criticizing some of their takes. It’s a podcast/talk radio, it’s literally made for people to have takes and the viewers respond to them. I enjoy listening to the Griz stuff because I just enjoy hearing people talk about football teams I’m familiar with, but if I hear something I don’t agree with, I’m going to point that out too. That’s what they want.

Completely agree. If you want to criticize the takes of Colter's guests then by all means go ahead. I just dislike when people criticize Colter for choosing to have those guests on his show or who claim that he's somehow pro-Griz when in reality he is providing fantastic coverage of both teams.
