I think we all need to brace for the fact that unless one of the Dakota schools has two losses, a three seed is the best we can get. Unfortunate but likely true
This.

There is huge DSU bias on the committee IMHO and at this point NDSU looks really good. The odds of an SDSU blowout are slim. We can hope NDSU has a bad game along the way other than against SDSU and The Cats do not. We still have a really rough road ahead.
Unless they're lying, which is a possibility, the committee looks at the quality wins and losses, not just the records. IF MSU can get to the end of the season at 10-1, that will be probably four quality wins and zero bad losses. If NDSU beats SDSU, things get a little muddy assuming NDSU goes undefeated. But it's a little clearer if NDSU loses to SDSU. Based on current rankings, NDSU would have quality wins against EWU (19), Southern Illinois (10) and UND (12). MSU would have wins over Weber (now 13), Sac St (9), Idaho (4), EWU (19), UM (18). Both teams would have wins over EWU and losses to SDSU. It would be hard for NDSU to have a "better" loss to SDSU than MSU did.

There could still be the DSU bias, but it would be far more transparent than last year, and I just don't think they can pass that off this time. All that said, lots of chances for all this to get blown to hell with losses or some other team going undefeated.

for what it's worth hers the coach's poll
1 South Dakota St. (26) 3-0 650 1
2 North Dakota State 3-0 624 2
3 Montana State 3-1 593 3
4 William & Mary 4-0 558 5
5 Holy Cross 3-1 528 6
6 Idaho 3-1 505 10
7 Furman 3-1 477 7
8 UIW 3-1 456 9
9 Sacramento State 3-1 453 4
10 Southern Illinois 3-0 409 13
11 North Dakota 2-1 373 14
12 Delaware 3-1 364 16
13 North Carolina Central 3-1 282 19
14 Weber State 2-2 254 8
15 Fordham 3-1 241 22
16 Montana 3-1 237 11
17 New Hampshire 2-2 223 12
18 Florida A&M 3-1 177 23
19 Youngstown State 2-1 149 24
20 UC Davis 2-2 123 15
21 Western Carolina 3-1 119 NR
22 Chattanooga 3-1 110 NR
23 Villanova 3-1 109 NR
24 Harvard 2-0 81 25
25 Eastern Washington 2-2 70 NR
Do they even look at games? UC Davis loses at home and ranked higher than EWU. Griz no offense for 2 weeks, lose to 0-3 team higher than both of them?
the coachs one is always dumb
Serious question. What's the smartest poll? Why?
Sam Herder probably pays more attention than anyone. His ballot is always well reasoned and he provides explanations in many cases. Unfortunately, he is one ballot in a poll.

I heard a rumor that Herder is not on the Christmas card list from egris.

eGriz is too busy trying to figure out who they want their next coach to be to worry about the polls!
