Balue Chapman - Senior Year Tape!
6'2" - 195 lbs. DE/RB/LB
The 2015 Montana Gatorade Player of the Year from Bozeman is a special player. At 195 lbs., he is a little small for the defensive end position in college and would have to put on about 40 lbs (queue Gtapp) to be an every down dude. But what he does have is one of the quickest first steps I have ever seen from a high school football player. He gets into the opponents backfield in a blink of an eye. He always plays low and wins a lot of one on ones against bigger competition regularly. He could also be a standout linebacker at the next level or maybe even safety. And he isn't too shabby on the offensive side of the ball either. He will need to put on some weight in college but he reminds me so much of Brad Daly with how he looked in high school. He is also a really good person who has done numerous community events with Bozeman youth and has a high GPA. If we reportedly did get a verbal from him, he will be a valuable asset to MSU.

Jered Padmos - Senior Year Tape!
6'3", 175 lbs. K/P
Jered received a scholarship for his special team abilities and if you watch his senior year tape, he shouldn't disappoint. You can find out how talented of a punter he is 30 seconds into the film I posted above. He drops a 50 yard punt inside the 5 yard line and the ball bounces back after it hits so it wasn't a roll punt. He also has a leg for a kicker. Gabe Peppinger from Sentinel and Dylan Sandefur from CMR were regarded as the best kickers in the State but I think Jered beats both of them because of his punting ability. He should be in competition for the starting punter job next year. And watch out for those fakes because he is a good athlete as well. Played quarterback and safety for Jefferson.

Stiff arm at the 2:17 mark play....just sayingVimSince03 wrote:Sean Opland - Senior Year Tape!
5'11" - 200 lbs. RB/LB
The explosive athlete from Class B Troy, MT finished his high school football career as unofficially the 4th place rusher (rushing yards) in Montana history. And he did it on some poor teams (no offense to the Troy Trojans). He breaks tackles, makes quick cuts in the hole, runs with power, and has break away speed. His best positions in college would more than likely be running back, outside linebacker, cornerback, or safety. An excellent track athlete, he can run a sub 50 sec. 400 meter dash which proves his break away speed. He took second in the 100m and 1st in the 200m at state class B last year. All of his track numbers are faster than Gunnar Brekke's for a comparison. Sean's primary recruiter was Mike Rider and I know this coaching change was hard on him. He remains committed to MSU. He is also a good student.

Hahaha! That poor little guy that tried to tackle him. Kuddos to him for the effort.

Quick question, but do we have any other punters on the team besides Bolton (who is out of eligibility)? I'm guessing Luke Daly may have punted before but the only other "punter" I knew of on the team was Jake Bleskin.VimSince03 wrote:Jered Padmos - Senior Year Tape!

If look at the depth chart Daly does not have a replacement. I believe Daly punted in high school.kwcat wrote:No.blueandgoldblitz wrote:Quick question, but do we have any other punters on the team besides Bolton (who is out of eligibility)? Michael Jobman - Senior Year Tape!
6'4", 215 lbs. WR/RB/TE/LB/DE
Jobman was one of the more sought after recruits in Montana this year, garnering full ride offers from the Griz and Bobcats and possibly the Wyoming Cowboys. I counted on Twitter that six Griz coaches were following him including Bob Stitt (which means he was very wanted). I think Engineering might have won us another stud recruit. He lined up and played everywhere for the Red Devils this year and helped lead them to the Championship game for the second consecutive year. He can make quick cuts and is a smooth athlete for his size. He has a ton of room to put on weight up top as his upper body hasn't quite developed yet. That is what makes Michael such an exciting prospect. You can mold him into any number of positions depending on what fits your scheme. We should be very excited to get a verbal from a player like Jobman.

Trace Bradshaw - Senior Year Tape!
6'3", 230 lbs. DT
Trace capped off an outstanding senior campaign by getting Eastern AA Co-Defensive Player of the Year honors. He actually rushed for more yards than Balue Chapman this year but he definitely won't be playing running back at the next level. I feel bad for any defensive backs that had to tackle him this year. He will be a defensive tackle at the next level. He plays with a good motor and plays mean. His pad level could be better but he is definitely one of the top interior defensive line recruits out of Montana this year. Chase Benson from Helena is quicker and stronger off the line but Trace is a close second. The Griz have started to show him interest now that his season is over and we have shown him some interest as well. I'm not sure if he is a scholarship player but definitely worthy of a PWO at a minimum.

Kyle Finch - Senior Year Tape!
6'4", 210 lbs. DE/LB
Kyle was the Southwestern Co-Defensive MVP in Class A this year for Dillon. After playing defensive end as a junior, he kicked out to OLB for Dillon his senior season. Kyle plays with great technique and has a good punch when engaging blockers. Has quick feet and should be able to be an outstanding defensive end or outside linebacker at the next level. Overall, Kyle is a good football player. Plain and simple. I know he is a big Griz fan but we have had some success in Dillon over the past four years. Bob Stitt follows him on Twitter. I expect him to go to the Griz if they offer.

Devin Maua - Senior Year Tape!
6'3", 240 lbs. DE/DT
Devin has steadily improved since his sophomore season when he started for Billings Senior as a linebacker. He turned into one of the more dominant defensive lineman in Class AA by his senior season. His senior season was a dandy. His strength really improved. He also played both ways as a first team all-state offensive tackle. He hits like a ton of bricks (go to 3:40 on his highlight tape). He was one of the start players at the Bobcats summer camp last year. Colter reported he could really improve his stock by having a good senior season and Devin did that. We have interest, I just don't know how much. It will all depend what defensive lineman we land ahead of him. He's a good player.

That's my thought too. FCS players, for the most part, know they have zero shot at the NFL. May as well get an engineering or a B.S. that is marketable in the modern economy.VimSince03 wrote:

Well i am probably biased as hell but here goes. There were two running backs other than Trefney with double the yards of Chapman in AA. Chapman had about 800 yds Grinde had about 1000. Trefney had 1600, Sparks had 1500 and McCraacken had 1400. Whats up with the All State voting ? Seems pretty predetermined and biased. Here is Sparks Highlights:

Re: Montana Recruits 2016
I would think Balue got it more for his defensive ability. And the fact that he was a two way player and he split carries with Bradshaw. Basically, give Balue a full workload at running back and he more than likely gets those yards. The one I could not believe got left off the list was Josh McCracken.jsparks wrote:Well i am probably biased as hell but here goes.
