Re: 2021 Bobcat Record Watch
@mslacatfan Enjoy this a lot! Thanks.
There is a problem with Tristan Bailey’s data. If he scored 184 points in his two years, then he had to have scored at least 92 points in one year. That would put him inside the Top-10 for Scoring in a Season which ends at 84.
Kudos to Blake Glessner who pretty quietly had a big kicking year.

Re: 2021 Bobcat Record Watch
well.... I was certainly hoping to make this final update while celebrating a win. But what an INCREDIBLE season!!!! The most fun I have ever had watching the Cats. On top of the teams success, we got to see some all time great individual performances, breaking records. A couple call outs-
Ifanse- We got to see arguably the best season ever by a Bobcat RB.
Lance- We got to see arguably the best season ever by a Bobcat WR.
Tommy- Just wait to see where he stands on several of these lists 4 years from now.....
Defense- Hardy had one of the best seasons we have seen in probably 30 years or so. And Troy did his typical "Troy Anderson Type Things" at LB.
Glessner- Would not be surprised to see him be the programs all time leading scorer when its all said and done.
GO CATS! I already can't wait for next season to get here!

Added Team Sacks list. This year was top 5 all time.
I don't think they track Team TFL... I don't see it listed on the website records list anyway?

I wonder if the attendance record was broken. I know the sellouts record was.
MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

The MSU home game attendance record, sorry for not being clear. I know the MSU home game sellouts record was broken, so I'm assuming they set an all-time record for fans in a season and fans per game.

Re: 2021 Bobcat Record Watch
I doubt MSU has kept track of this but where does this team rank as far as Scoring Defense per Game? We gave up 14.6 points per game (15.1 if you could the fake fg return allowed against the gris). That's got to be near the top in the 1-AA/FCS era.
Eastwood, did not make it. Ball out! Recovered, by Montana State!! The Bobcats hold!!! The Bobcats hold!!!

Re: 2021 Bobcat Record Watch
A word about Don Hass....
In 1956 a tough little running back from Pennsylvania, George Marinkovich, helped lead the Bobcats to their first National Championship and in the process became the all-time leading single season rusher with 609 yards. That was fifty-nine years after the first Bobcat (or perhaps "Aggies" back then) packed the pigskin for Coach Mr. Lisle. Just seven years later Glendive's Dan Sundling improved the record to 672 yards for Coach Sweeney. The very next season, 1964, another player from Pennsylvania, fullback Dave Miller improved the record to 688 yards! What came next was so astounding it was hard to comprehend...almost unbelievable!
This is not about "reasons" or "excuses", it's simply about "context". In 1964 as a freshman (back to Glendive) Don Hass had zero yards because freshman were not eligible. As a sophomore he rushed for a respectable and promising 274 yards. What came in 1966 was like the astronauts blasting off for the moon, missing it, and safely landing on Mars!! Suddenly the number went from 688 to 1,460 yards! He more than doubled the previous record.
No way would he come anywhere near that in his senior season because defenses would be stacked. But it was only a "not quite" because he finished with "only" 1,245.
Those two seasons recalibrated the entire running game. The next season Paul Shafer rushed for 1,199; things dropped off a for a few years until along came Steve Kracher.
But the fact remains, Don Hass is still relevant today. His numbers produced in just two highly productive seasons still hold up well against all comers.

He was great. Obviously. I didn’t realize he got almost all of his yards in two seasons. I know I’ve seen it, but what was his average per carry?FYI wrote: ↑Sun Jul 17, 2022 2:58 pmA word about Don Hass....

In 66 the Cats played 11 games and in 67 they played 10 games. In 21 games he ran over, around and through some great defenses. Hasn't he had both knees replaced? Sundling ran the Corner Pocket for a few years.FYI wrote: ↑Sun Jul 17, 2022 2:58 pmA word about Don Hass....
