1) Repair any/all image problems created by the recent drug issues with the team.
2) Don't make statemets alienating us from entire states of people. Florida is the top football state in the country, I think it is important to have a good relationship their players. By all accounts, Fuller was as good a kid to ever be recruited by this university. Unfortunately he made a HORRIBLE decision.
3) Expect the same proficiency from your offense as you do your defense. Lets be honest, our offense shouldn't be predicated on a QB that has to improvise in order to gain yards. We're at the top of the conference every year in D, but can live with an up and down offense? We'll NEVER win a national title with an offense that can't consistently move the ball against good teams (ie Montana, App St.)
4) 8 wins a year. Thats the next step. No hoping to get into the playoffs, we should be in the same position that UM is, knowing that playoffs are at the end of the season, not hoping (or even getting lucky to get in)

I agree the Florida comment was probably "heat of the moment" talk. I feel the Fuller incident was like a slap in the face to Kramer and it popped out of the blue when he already had the Idaho situation on his mind. Mike is a very smart, rational individual.............he'll do what is right and good for the team.

Plus, we have two freshman DB's on the roster right now. I think one of them was on redshirt alert for most of the year. #3 Conroy Black and #6 Greg Palmer. Hopefully Kramer has already talked to them and apologized for that statement. Both of these kids could be counted on pretty heavy next year and would hate to see them leave because of some off hand statement.

After reading the Chronicle Article on Kramer just posted ("The Program Has Not Run Amok"), I am sure Kramer will be able be able to raise the moral consciousness of the players and inspire them to look out for each other so the team doesn't have any major off field issues going forward. Actually, for an inspirational leader, I can not think of anyone better.
I think the Cat football program is at a point Kramer should really start limiting the number of drop downs and transfers we take. I don't agree with Kramer saying he won't recruit anyone from Florida (Clive Lowe is one of my favorite players), but at the same time it won't hurt my feelings to focus our efforts closer to home. Stick with recruiting areas that you know and from the high school coaches that you trust. Take a few more chances on Montana kids. Offer a few more partial scholarships. I don't know what Kramer's hang up is with partials, but I think they really mean something to kids. If my kid was offered a full ride to UofM and a partial to MSU, he would be going to MSU with no consideration for UofM. If my kid was offered a partial at UofM and preferred walk on at MSU, he would still be going to MSU.
But that is just my kid, I could see where someone else's kid would likely go to UofM.
If a freshman has definitely got the talent, let them play Coach! Kramer always seems so hesitant to do that (although I sometimes understand the redshirt appeal at times). I mean look at Mason this year, and Groves last year. They played, but at first mainly out of necessity. Kramer is getting better but still needs to have a little faith sometimes. He often paints the picture that the freshman still need their diapers changed. But, some of these kids already have been playing football for 10 years by the time they are freshman, and are just damn good players. A lot of other programs seem to better embrace and utilize freshmen. Look at Armanti Edwards for Ape State, and they know what they have for the next 3 years. That is where continuity comes from.
Lets get strong character players right out of highschool and just keep building the program. Lets keep building the depth, then we won't have to take a chance on late drop downs/transfers, where sometimes you are not really sure who you are getting or if they are actually going to show up.
I'm glad Kramer is staying and think he will get things moving in a positive direction again.
