You might want to wait until halftime. I don't know how loud you'd be for the second half if you ate the pennies before the game.

I'm checking around for thundersticks. So far:

1) MSU Bookstore doesn't even know what they are - so none there.

2) Universal Athletics doesn't have any - going to check about ordering them in - they would be plain without any imprinting I'm guessing due to short timeline

3) Big Look - Should have a price today from my guy there.

Question is, how many would you order if you were getting them? Depending on cost, I would think you could sell 5000 pretty easy couldn't you? Does this go against MSU policy to try and sell things like this at the game?

Who produced the sticks for Cat Griz last year? That was impressive to be sure.

Just checked with a company online at buypromoitems.com

The cost would be just over $1 per pair including shipping for 6000 pairs.

What does everyone think my chances are of unloading this many at the game this Saturday? Any helpers in selling them if I do this?

BTW, the price is for an athletic gold stick with printing on both sides - one side would have my company name and the other would have Montana State University Bobcats.

Selling or giving away. Giving them away, I would think they would all go, selling them might be tough.

If your company name is on them you would have to give them away as that is what people would expect. If they are blank then people might pay for them, but I think the best bet is to give them away. You might need to check with printing Montana State on them, there may be licensing issues. The best idea would be to print your company name on one side and put www.bobcatnation.com on the other! ;) No issues there and people would LOVE them.

I think you could sell them, if you were located by the entrances to both sides of the stadium. I don't think you would get $5 for a pair unless some of it was going to a good cause...(I don't think after partys count, sorry)

I think you could sell a pretty good amount in the tailgate areas...the only thing is then it cuts down on your tailgate time....

if you use cat head logo, you have to get permission but I am not sure about just the name Montana State.

I thought so as well until I tried to get some shirts printed this year that just said MSU. There was no reference to which MSU it was, but they still had to license that. The NCAA has pretty strict rules now and if you violate the rules it is major fines.

What if he just had "Bobcats" put on them?

I'm sure you could sell a ton in the tailate area. I would buy 3-4 for the student side as well as they have been doing a great job of creating a VERY loud atmosphere over there.

According to their websiteHere's what's trademarked by the university... looks like Bobcats would be inappropriate as well....

I would just be careful of selling stuff at the game with regards to licensing laws (the logo) and solicitation policies (university/city ordinances). I would buy my share of them from you Wiers, but I think you could break even on this one, or possibly have a business tax write-off if anything else :)

Jim Joyner, of Missoula, Mont., asks Big Sky Conference:

"Are artificial noisemakers prohibited at Big Sky Conference Football games. Specifically, the 'thunderstick' which is a platic blow up stick approximately 24" long. When 'slapped' together, make a noise. These were used a lot during the world series, and I've seen them used at the University of Idaho game against the Griz. Any insights into this?"

Big Sky Conference responds:

"The Big Sky currently does not have a rule regulating the use of artificial noisemakers at football games. Artificial noisemakers are, however, prohibited at Big Sky basketball and volleyball games."
dont you remember the student section having thundersticks last year for cat griz? They were handed out at the gate.
Thunder sticks suck. Let's all bring cowbells!

I would hate to see someone get stuck with a big bill even though we at bobcat nation would do our part to help out. I think we cooridate with the MSU paper, Bozeman Chronicle, spirit squad and get the word out via publications/flyers etc, for people to bring noisemakers themselves, ie cowbells, keys, rocks in plastic jugs, thunder sticks, Christmas jingle bells, etc.

The idea's been put to the side for now. I think there's been some great points brought up regarding licensing issues, legality, etc. Also, I'm not exactly certain as to who I would use to help me sell them.

So, at this point, we'll just need to come up with our own objects.

Thanks for all the great input on this one everyone.
