Ya, Carp was not good but he was set up to fail. You can't let a young guy throw that many times and be successful. The D knew we weren't going to run so they sat back and played the pass. The receivers couldn't catch and we throw east and west not north and south. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrgggggg.
We could put Rolo in but he isn't any better. Give Carp one more game and then give Rolo a shot at starting.
On a side note, remember the play where the QB rolls out and hits the tightend running a drag for 15 yds? Ya well it works every time but Bailey doesn't run it cause it works too well and is too easy!

NO!! If Jack isn't starting this week I will have a very difficult time stepping foot in the stadium Saturday. My attention was focused on the QBs all game trying to watch them make reads. Cory was simply not making reads and when he had a guy open he took another couple seconds to start his throw and by then the D had jumped the route. He simply wasn't comfortabl in the pocket. Jack on the other hand drops back and goes through the reads like a QB should. I know people will say what they want, but I spent a lot of time Saturday watching the QB reads and can confidently say that Jack is the better QB right now.MSUcantouchus wrote:Ya, Carp was not good but he was set up to fail. I agree with rtb, its about going through the progressions, and making throws on the open route, I just have yet to see Carp do it very well, except against CU, I don't know what happened there. I think maybe the loss last week shook his confidence or something, this week's loss should make it even worse. I agree Rolo didn't see the top of their defense yesterday but this isn't an argument I've made just this week. I really think Jack has more talent, I do agree however that Bailey's play calling is at least 50% of the problem. But I still say Rolo should start, if he can't produce any better than fine but I think Carp's had his shot and blown it, time to try somebody else.

I may sound like an a&%, but if Cory's diabetes was the reason he performed so poorly yesterday, then what's not to say it won't happen time and time again. It is a shame the he has to deal with this medical problem, and I truly admire him for juggling both the diabetes and the football. But football is not an individual sport - it is a team sport. And if this medical issue is going to be a problem every week, then it is time to make change. I am hoping that Kramer was just grasping for straws and using it as an excuse, but it cannot happen again.rtb wrote:If this is true I am FLAT OUT PISSED! Why put the kid in and set him up to fail if he is that sick? He should have not been playing if he was sick as that could have put him in greater danger and now there aren't too many fans who trust Cory as the QB. For Cory's sake and the team he should have not played if he had been sick all week.duelalumnicat wrote:I didn't hear Attebury's post game interview with Kramer yesterday, I was told that Kramer said that Cory Carpenter had been sick all week, and that his poor performance yesterday was, in part, caused by his illness aggravated by his diabetes. Does anyone out there know whether this is true?

This is what was said before this weekend too and the leash was let out to 38-0 before they thought to try something new. As I said before...if Cory starts agains EWU I will have a really hard time entering the stadium Saturday. I will go, but it won't be the excitement I normally feel going into the stadium.farmcats wrote:Who starts---- Carpenter

I foresee Carpenter starting but on a short leash. If in the first several possessions we don’t score or are not moving the ball, Carpenter will be out and Rolovich is in.

Exactly, actually I have felt and posted, that he looked better since Great Falls last spring. Also, Taito is horrible. He was horrible against Chadron and was horrible against UCD. Put Mason in and let him develop. He already lost his redshirt anyway.rtb wrote:There is no reason for Rolo not to start next week. He looks head and shoulders above Carpenter and has looked that way since the scrimmage.
Another huge disappointment to me is Andre Fuller. On third and ten, or longer, more often than not it seemed to be him giving up the big plays. He also was horrible against Chadron. Do we not have anyone else?

The offense has no leader, no one to rally them to start playing like a team. They fall apart like a house of cards as soon as something bad happens. The defense at least had Ryan Force...but with him out unfortunately they become the same as the offense. Fuller had a pretty good game until the second half when the whole team gave up. Both squads need that one guy that will rally the troops. Kramer said that Henderson was going to be that guy on Defense, but obviously the team doesn't know or respect him yet. Maybe someone like Marcosis LeBlanc can take over. Overall I think the corners played OK. The touchdowns were mainly scored on the safeties IMO. The defensive backfield was just terribly confused after Force left.
The offensive line was a disgrace! Two yards rushing!

That is my take as well. Best defense is a good offense as the other offense is off the field. We need improvement on BOTH sides of the ball though in order to right the ship. A marked improvement in the offense/running game will do wonders for our defense though (points given up).rtb wrote:Maybe the fact that we went 3 and out ALL first half with Carp under center. You can't leave a defense on the field for 20 of the 30 first half minutes and expect them to keep the offense from scoring.bobcatmaniac wrote:There are by far many more problems with this team than the darn QB!! If the quarterback was the problem, why in the hell did the other team get over 40 frickin points!!!!!
I know there are other issues, but the complete lack of offense in the first half cost us the game.
