If one thinks they have a NC calaber team, they want everyone to know. If your camp is clicking on all cylinders, you rev your engine to let everyone hear the power. Seems if you have something to hide, you go to the cone of silence. Not trying to start rumors, this just smells fishy, jinda like a GRIZGATE.

The point of this post is not to start a rumor mill, but to thank Cat fans for posting practice reports, thanks GOKATS! Keep em rolling in!
I actually quit posting over at egriz quite awhile ago because to be honest, most of the folks over there have lost perspective. That said, the childish situation regarding the lack of posting of a practice report is more about getting slammed by other posters regarding personal observations and less about thinking we have something to hide. Really, how much can be ascertained about a team on the first day of practice in helmets only? If any of you want to stake your season on observations of the first day, email me for some great bargins.

I went there only to see if the rumors that floated around ended up have some truth. Personally, I'm less concerned about our team this year then last. Last year we had questions at QB and a very young defense. This year I'm very confident in our QB position, can't think of a 1-AA team with a better situation at running back, and am looking forward to our expirenced defense taking care of business.

If I were you, I be more concened about the status of your skilled positions then if there is some sort of "Grizgate". The Griz will put a good team on the field. My hope is that we have a good bunch of practices, stay within 28 of Iowa while remaining injury free, and progress as a team each week. If that occurs, things will take care of themselves.

When I meant over there I was talking about going to egriz, not to practice. From what I have gathered, Murphy was there as expected.

I don't think you have to worry about that. You'd have a hard time finding a MSU fan not concerned about our skill positions.

We're kind of flip-flopped from UM since the thing we have to fall back on is a very good offensive line with four returning starters (when you count the TE as O-line) (five counting Verlanic, who started a couple games), throw in Saucedo, who may turn out to be the best of the bunch, and things look good. Give me a good offensive and I'll give you a decent offense.
You guys have Lex back and some good potential with Swogger and Chambers. It'd be a good year to combine your skill positions with our line. I'm willing to bet the line will develop into a good unit and that our skill players are able to function by the time league games get going.
Defensively and special teams, both teams are set.

My biggest concern if I were a Griz would be coming home in tact from the Iowa game. Those are some mean-assed, scary bastages on both sides of the ball over there. There's no Griz-envy over that, you can have the Hawkeyes.

Good post, and you are correct regarding line play. Being a former OLineman myself, you are on point. I do believe what many Cat fans don't want to face is the fact that Lulay had more sucess because of who he was rather then just what he was. Your struggles will also come in the fact that no longer is the guy at the helm somebody who will always give you a chance. Not saying either QB won't get there, but it was a known with Lulay and the mental aspect is a big part of the game.

While inexpirenced, I can tell you the Griz will field one of their most impressive OLines in ability. If they can gell as a unit will be the key. Most fans are ignorant of the need for the OLine to be on the same page and to have a center who is well versed in calling blocking schemes and defensive alighnments.

Personally, I'm comfortable with where we are at in Grizville. If I would wish for anything from the Cat team, it would be the Dline situation. You guys may be in the position of being able to rely on defense the first part of the season, while allowing your offense to grow.

Further, you are correct about Iowa. We are talking about real, smash-mouth football and any fan who can look you in the eye while saying we have a shot against them needs to be hospitalized and medicated. But, the reality is that we had more people hurt last year playing Ft. Lewis then we did Oregon. Leaving the corn of Iowa, check in hand, with limited injuries is my goal.

Are you sure it was Beeson? According to today's Chronicle, Kramer said that Beeson had transferred to Western Oregon. Here is the blurb from the paper that lists Beeson and some others that are not here:

Glad to hear he was there and practicing as expected. Hopefully he can put everything aside and have a good season for the Griz, with the exception of one game on the 18th of November.

Yes, that's very good news. The league's a better place with players like Murphy in it. He's a stud.

Yes indeedy it is Joe's kid, also named Joe, I believe. Nice tie in.

I was wondering the same thing about Beeson- I reported on the 4 QB's I saw yesterday, and Beeson wasn't one of them.

Born 2,
You mis-judged me, I am a reasonable person. As I stated, I know kids playing for the griz. It may be hard for you to understand, but I really do wish kids I know playing for another program to excel. As stated, I went to the site to follow their progress, only to find out that won’t be happening, the cone of silence for whatever reason has lead to non-disclosure of info. My post was in frustration of the cone of silence. If you look at all my post, I am not the rumor mill kinda of guy; I try to stick to the facts. Please note that I do not go on the griz site and post crap. All I was looking for was some information. You seem like a reasonable guy, don’t be like most maroon fans I encounter that go on the immediate defense and respond with a knee jerk defensive reactions Some of us don’t know all the alleged scoop and rumors, nor do we really care. Some of us really don’t have an agenda to see if we can discredit anyone who shares a different preference of team. And some of us just like to have a little fun in life, the Griz Gate comment was for humor out of frustration. I really don’t care what’s going on, I just want to follow the players I know, even in a maroon uniform! Lighten up dude, the only conspiracy theory I see, is that I won’t be getting any information from the other site. I still stand on the fact that it stinks, and does not make sense to me.

Let's drop this and get back to football!

Actually it was you who misjudged me. I think by making the statement that the lack of posting about the practice is "childish", I was basically in step with you. I really don't think that you have some agenda, nor was I going to the defense of those at egriz. I thought I made it clear that most over there have lost perspective. I have said this to others and if your old enough, I liken it to the SNL sketch with Mike Meyers, "If it isn't Scottish, it's crap!" Well, many Griz fans over there are of the ilk that if it isn't Grizzly, it's crap.

Unlike some who support the Griz, I have no problems discussing the rise of the Bobcats and like you I know several players whom I support in their individual performences despite my dislike of the team.

My points were clear. Not much will be told until the games begin and very little can be actually learned from a fan's observations of practice. I do hope that both programs end fall camp without injury and go into the schedule with a full head of steam. I really don't think I need to lighten up anymore or I'll float away.

Does that mean we won't have Beeson's high school buddy posting negative things about the other QBs on here anymore? Bummer.

Piecing together bits of these two stories....caan someone explain to me what is going on in our Compliance Department?
1) Jefferson may or may not be eligible - shouldn't we have known about this earlier....like this spring?
2) Kolone is now undergoing testing because he may not graduate? And thus he isn't playing? What?? Why wasn't this known earlier?
3) Our transfer LB Bryant Matthews isn't here because his transcripts were destroyed in Hurricane Katrina? Wasn't that LAST SEPTEMBER? WTF?

Maybe all of this was known earlier, and it is just coming to light in the public. But if someone can explain what is going on, I am happy to listen.

I think it is more that the rules are changing and it's taking time to get use to them. In the past it was grade point and number of units taken. (that is not the same thing as graduating). Now the rules include tracking to graduation. A player needs to show he is just not changing majors every year to stay eligible.

A second issue is that it might have been know, but there was probably a plan to solve the issue (i.e. summer school). If the student/player just doesn't follow-thru, it happens. They are adults.

This happens every year (grades is an issue with a hand full of players) and some are held out until they get their grades. There were multiple like this a couple years ago. Also when a kid transfers, not all the credits are accepted the same.

I don't know if there is anyone to blame. Just part of getting 90 players out there.

The old saying is play with the guys that are there and don't worry about the ones that don't make it.

Save the earth. It's the only planet with chocolate.

Good points. They've calmed me a bit.
But the one that put me over the edge was the transfer linebacker who's transcript can't be found because they were destroyed in Hurricane Katrina. Can someone explain why this wasn't figured out at the time that he committed to MSU?
