Live ball play. If you accept the penalty it would be marked off and play is redone. If you decline result of play stands. That is what happened, but it is by rule because no one would ever accept. Since this was a PAT there is no change of possession. If that had been on a FG it would have been marked off at end of playJoe Bobcat wrote: ↑Sat Jan 10, 2026 9:01 pmWhat seems so weird to me is the idea behind the rule, where once the team that had the ball has lost possession of it to the other team who is now trying to advance the ball then the team that lost the ball can commit a penalty and by doing so would get the ball back but lose some yardage for their next snap of the ball. Please tell me there is no other time or penalty in a game where that would happen or my head might explode. It makes no sense to me why they would get the ball back at all.tetoncat wrote: ↑Sat Jan 10, 2026 8:29 pmIt was a penalty just not enforceable because not dead ball. If Cats accept they get to try again so would always be declined. No different than a hold or if it happened on a 4th down.Bobcat Jim wrote: ↑Sat Jan 10, 2026 4:00 pmEvery time I see the replay of the blocked extra point I wonder how Petrie didn't get his neck broken with that vicious face mask. And it was not a penalty. Crazy
