No excuses but it was stated multiple times by coaches and media that USD has a stout run defense coming into this one. You can tell they are good up the middle...which is why I don't understand why we can't get things going on the edges. Davis really isn't that type of back but Jones can be...and needs to be. Early in the season but we don't really have a runner (RB or QB) who can bounce one and beat the edge. We had like like four two years ago and Tommy/Scottre last year.

So yeah if we keep wanting to throw the ball this much on pure dropbacks where the ball isn't designed to come out to a pre-determined player, Sterbick and Co. better expect more sacks because the line is not ready for primetime. I'm all for making them learn but I would also like to win a football game.

Bingo. I guess we do have Taco and Jabez Woods but are we ready to play receivers at RB again?

Anyway, our 1st Team defense probably won't let them score but the lack of a run game is making things way less manageable for our signal caller who, again, likely will not make it a full season if he keeps taking these hits at this rate.

It's not for nothing, how many times has MSU done this and then completely worn down the defense by the fourth quarter. The key play on that last drive was the incompletion to King that should've been 2nd and 1 but wasn't caught.

I think we need to start talking about the Adam Jones sophomore slump and the Julius Davis comeback. Both are receiving similar volume...and only one is producing to the standard (>6 YPC).

Very small sample sizes so far. Adam hasn't had much space to work with a lot of the time.

I'm so happy that Julius Davis is on this team. Should've had that touchdown on the wheel route. He looks to be moving more fluid this year and has had some great runs in this game.

I hate the punt here but probably the right call with USD doing almost nothing on offense. In other USD news, South Dakota's running back has 262 yards in three quarters but somehow they only lead 10-6 against Northern Colorado.
