Maybe. The allure of the portal is that it can substitute for player development.
Theres zero doubt in my mind that it works. Sometimes.
But its a crap shoot.
I mean, some people walk away from the roulette tables in Vegas with millions. But a lot more lose money.

A lot of national media members want to make things sound more competitive than they actually are.
There were five teams that didn’t lose a FCS game to anyone except each other. Only one won a road game vs another of those five teams.
MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).
