I was just being ironic with the song and the Alabama says you need a fiddle. I really can't figure out what you are saying.DMMDCats wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 6:00 pmHate that song.
HATE like Cam hates.
How about “Mountain Music” instead.
Much more fitting.
Or “Fishing in the Dark” by a MT group, which describes our Bobcats Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. (Lots of dirt roads ‘round Melstone). Night game and all, even has a fiddle.
Or the ol standard Mony Mony.

What was the point of the thread?
Oh well, support the band, or support Feed the Cats, or volunteer at a soup kitchen. We all go out the same way.

Didn't we subsidize the jizz's band to travel last year when they made it to Frisco? I don't expect that favor to be returned to us from that failing, piss-poor institution

I knew you were being ironic and just having fun….and I was responding in jest too!
I guess I don’t understand the complaints…..the song’s been played at the semifinal games for quite a few years and I don’t know who started it…..used to hear at NDSU games when they were headed to the Natty…..just fine by me. Adapt and enjoy.

I’ll be helping out the band. The way I see it, those kids work hard practicing in all kinds of weather and performing at the football games…..then perform at the home men’s and women’s basketball games during conference play. They really help with the energy in the Brick at BB games.
Just my little way of saying thanks to the young men and women for your hard work!!!

We may not have a fiddle, but we have one hell of a clarinet!! Let’s make sure he gets there.

You would think the NCAA could help out with things like this and feeding expenses with all the fines they levy against universities. I know for a fact they picked-up an extra 200K due to a certain flag planting melee between two schools. What do they do with that, spend it on a Christmas party?

I donated a few bucks. Man, this is one expensive football season.
I love it though and wished I could spend my cash on this type of stuff every year.

I'd rather pay to have the rodeo team head down there to do a run out.
Now THAT would be just plain awesome!

I think they tried to go in '21 and the stadium folks wouldn't let them, didn't want the horses to ruin the field.

Re: The Band Needs our Help
While the run out is very cool, and you're certainly entitled to your opinion (for me that would be very disheartening) of preferring to send them instead of the band, I think the band is much more deserving and I'm pretty sure the folks doing the flags would agree. The band (every band at every school) practices for countless hours in bad weather to get ready for every home game. They sit in the stands all game regardless of the weather and are among the most energetic people in the stadium. They don't leave the stadium at halftime and return late. They perform in all kinds of weather holding onto ice cold instruments with bare hands and pressing their lips onto freezing mouthpieces. It's inspiring at times. College bands are one of the great traditions of college football. Ideally, it would be awesome if every university had the budget to send them, but they understandably don't. The next best thing is for the fans (alumni, local businesses, everyday fans, etc.) of that school fund their band's travel expenses without assistance from outside sources.

Got an email today from MSU thanking me for the contribution and also announcing that the band will be going to Frisco!

Everyone chill. We’re not children.. let’s all get along please. And yes I donated. You fans with high Priority Points that want a lower number for the perks that come with it. It starts with donations like this or feed the Cats or whatever you can afford, every dollar helps.Cataholic wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 11:48 pmI may not be a “better fan”, but I can tell you this, the last thought on my mind was “how many band members will go” which was your biggest question given the fill ins this weekend. Seems some others interpreted your question the same way.Camo_Cat wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 9:29 pmIt was just a question about how many band members can actually make that trip because many of them are off on break and probably at home. Lighten up, Francis. Quit trying to act like you're a better fan. It's not a competition.Cataholic wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 9:10 pmYes. Do you want to compare receipts?PapaG wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 6:30 pmDid you donate?Cataholic wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 6:22 pmHuh? Do you want an itemized breakdown? Sheesh.Camo_Cat wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 12:28 pmI will make a donation, but I guess my biggest question is how many band members will go? Technically, students are still on winter break until the middle of January, and the band numbers were pretty small yesterday. And from what I understand, a lot of the band yesterday was made up of alumni who came back to play in the absence of students.
And seriously man, the post I responded to was embarrassing as a Cat fan. Do you think the school is trying rip people off? WTF? Stupid.

Well it sounds like the school of dance to the west returned the favor and donated $3k for the band. So good on em!
