Odd how the players haven't tweeted out their commitments...they are who we thought they were

I have a feeling it will be one of those signing day announcements. There are a lot of young players (usually big time recruits) that like to have a ceremonial announcement.

Any idea how signing day will work since the National Letter of Intent isn't a thing anymore?

I'm just guessing that it will still be something similar. They are still signing a document for financial aid.

Yeah, you're probably right. No longer a somewhat binding document, but still signing on to come play.

And this from The NY Times yesterday;

"Once a recruit “signs a written offer of athletics aid, other schools that offer athletically related financial aid will be prohibited from recruiting communications with that prospect,” the NCAA wrote, which, in theory, protects programs from prospects continuing to flip right up until enrollment."

Can't wait to see the creative ways around this

I think its just verbal commits. Nobody signs until signing day.

I really dont understand why they thought they needed to keep a signing day. With all these changes, just sign on the dotted line or dont.

Since the rule doesn't bind the players, only member universities of the NCAA, it seems like it would be legal. I'm not a lawyer, though; I just watch one on TV.

It's a big event. Recruits like it.

Likely legal to keep University from contacting. How will they enforce? Fines, Suspensions, by time find out damage is done.
Here is my gripe. You are creating a situation for kids to say they are coming, that takes away some other kids opportunity, likely sets kid up to sign and receive NIL money, train in summer etc. Kid bails right before fall camp. Nothing holds them accountable. Seems like if they want to get paid these signings need to be a contract.
I can't sign saying I'm taking a job, get company to pay for my move, a signing bonus, etc and then not show up for work.

There wasn’t a whole lot keeping players from bailing before. Heck, the Cats lost a few players in the past few years after they already committed and signed. Junior Bergen being one of them. There was another young man that was offered late by the Air Force Academy, after he signed with the Cats, and Choate let him out of his commitment. No big deal. I know the vast majority of the commits will be Bobcats, because they want to be Bobcats. If they don’t want to come to MSU or get a better offer elsewhere, then that’s fine with me.
