Re: 2023 Record Watch
Wow! I think only one qb has ever had 3,000 rushing and 5,000 passing in career. A dude from one of the Louisiana schools. Not LSU.
MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Re: 2023 Record Watch
I think UM had 174 rushing yards yesterday.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 7:22 amOn pace to shatter yards per carry/season. Currently at 7.6. Current record is 6.5, which was set last year, and was 0.81 per carry better than the previous record. It’d be like when Bob Beamon broke the long jump record with a 29’2” jump when the record was under 28’.
MSU had three carries in the second half that alone would’ve been enough yards to constitute a good game. 88+51+40=179. Three different players.
Also on pace to break last year’s record for rushing yards in a season.

Re: 2023 Record Watch
Pretty crazy to think that Coach Vigen could potentially be as high as 5th in all-time wins by the end of this season, with only 3 seasons coached to get there. Hope he's happy in Bozeman and stays for a long time (hands off, Utah State).

Re: 2023 Record Watch
Thanks for doing all this. My favorite thread. The YPC is off the charts. I need to add up the number of long runs and see how it stacks up against previous years. Off the top of my head there was 29, 88, 40, 51 in the last game. A 58 vs Weber. I think White had one around 71 and 50 prior to Saturday. Humphrey had a 40ish. Hard to keep track of them all.mslacatfan wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 7:52 pmupdated from Portland State.

Re: 2023 Record Watch
If NDSU doesn't win a National Championship this year, with the unrest they already have after losing to SD, it's going to be hard to keep Vigen away from Fargo. I'd really like to see him stick around for two more seasons after this one but that's looking unlikely.

and this season, Ellijah Elliot is 19 for 212 (10.7) and Jared White is 35 for 351 (10). That is unreal.

One of the craziest stats to me…. Our 5th string RB has over 1,200 career rushing yards. Hahaha. Wtf?!

Re: 2023 Record Watch
No kidding! I’m still blown away that the part time QB, that has been on the team for only 19 games, has a chance of being second on the all time list for rushing touchdowns. We live in interesting times.mslacatfan wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 11:40 amOne of the craziest stats to me…. Our 5th string RB has over 1,200 career rushing yards. Hahaha. Wtf?!

Re: 2023 Record Watch
I really do wonder if he would leave here to go back to NDSU. I get he’s an alumni and has obvious connections, but do you really leave a great situation for what is ultimately a lateral move?kennethnoisewater wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 11:17 amIf NDSU doesn't win a National Championship this year, with the unrest they already have after losing to SD, it's going to be hard to keep Vigen away from Fargo. I don’t think we’ll have him long term, but I think we lose him to the FBS in some way, not to NDSU.
Agreed though on the timeframe, if we have him for two more years, I’d be very happy.

Re: 2023 Record Watch
Yeah, I read the thread on Bisonville, they seem about 50/50 in the idea of him coming back, they thought he was too predictable as an OC but agree he may be a good fit as a HC.Catsrgrood wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 12:11 pmI really do wonder if he would leave here to go back to NDSU. In his career he has been extremely loyal and waited for the right place before moving. I don't think he would jump for what would be considered a lateral move, even if it is NDSU and his alma mater.
If the Cats make it back to Frisco I think G5 schools will take notice, but I expect him to stay put unless it is a good fit for him. If I remember right I think he said it was a few years looking for the right place before he came to MSU.
** disclaimer ** I have absolutely zero inside knowledge and my opinion is based solely on his public statements and past career decisions.

Agreed, he’s clearly very loyal and I recall him saying something about waiting for the right opportunity and not going after just any HC opening prior to the Cats job opening up. I would imagine this would be the same situation. Keep winning and possibly add a title or two, and he will have many more opportunities in a couple years than if he were to leave this offseason (presumably).cats2506 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 12:33 pmYeah, I read the thread on Bisonville, they seem about 50/50 in the idea of him coming back, they thought he was too predictable as an OC but agree he may be a good fit as a HC.Catsrgrood wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 12:11 pmI really do wonder if he would leave here to go back to NDSU. Re: 2023 Record Watch
Not sure if you have this listed anywhere but current BSC win streak (10) is one off record set in 2010-11 and matched in 2019 and 2021.
MSU won 9 straight 1966-68. there are a couple of 7s in there, and the longest I see in the Rocky Mountain days is 6.

With a fan base that wants to fire you after one bad loss, I think I’d stay clear of going back to NDSU. Eeesh. Could you imagine what would happen if they didn’t make the playoffs?Catsrgrood wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 12:55 pmAgreed, he’s clearly very loyal and I recall him saying something about waiting for the right opportunity and not going after just any HC opening prior to the Cats job opening up.
