I enjoy Colter, but that breakdown was ******.
The Griz’s unproven QB is a draw with a QB room that produced 4200 yards and 50 TD’s? The only places MSU is better than UM is RB, OL, and DE? Give me a break! We all saw MSU beat the stuffing out of UM. It wasn’t even close. Being objective isn’t trying to keep it even, it’s being honest with what you see. That might as well have been from the Griz fan pod, but honestly, I doubt even they’d be that biased. Just utter ******.
Ok…. I haven’t listened to it/read it yet….. but he said the qb room is a draw? Are you serious?
Hahahahahahahahahahah
I like colter and am a huge fan of his work…. But yikes…. Even most griz fans would say that one is a big miss.

He said it was a “push” because Vidlak could be awesome. Which I suppose could be true, if Vidlak turns out to be the best QB in the FCS. Wouldn’t bet on that one tho

So what you're saying is the pac8 may take more of our crappy crews and we'll have to poach the NAIA?

I really don't know what's going to happen. All I can go on is the, deservedly so, poor reputation the western officials have already. To see the exodus of decent officials from the pac already doesn't bode well for the pac, MWC, or Big Sky I would think. Our conference already has many cringe worthy missed and wrong calls...

Not surprising, who would want to referee in that large of a footprint.

Listening to Colter’s breakdown of the positions after spring. I want to say that we are incredibly lucky to have such high quality coverage in Montana. He’s very very good, no other teams have the high level coverage that Montana and Montana State have. With that being said, saying that the QBs are a “wait and see” is ludicrous. We’ve already seen what Big Cat and Little Cat can do, perhaps the best QB duo in the FCS. You have to put a LOT of faith that Vidlak will be absolutely amazing to call it a draw. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
I felt the same way! What a fanboy take from a guy that usually doesn't.

There are also two distinct possibilities:
a) Missoula is the primary market for the show. Gotta keep the audience happy.
b) The show is own/broadcast on an ESPN affiliate station. Gotta keep the audience angry and engaged.
Those two can both be right when both fan bases listen to the show.
I think most of all, Colter wants Missoula to be more competitive with MSU because the rivalry is more fun when both teams are good. He seems to be trying to will them to be better in his head to head analysis though.

Well, as he stated above, mission accomplished! It was engaging enough for half the board to comment on it. When we kill them again in late November, it’ll be clear once again that the position groups are most certainly not even.

Montana State has a better offensive line and a better culture with a superior sense of belief than any team in the conference. Throw in one of the best coaches in the country and Montana State has the overall edge on everybody in the Big Sky, Griz or otherwise. Barring a catastrophe, MSU will be the preseason pick to win the Big Sky and will have an inside track to the Final Four of the playoffs for the fourth year in a row.

The best part about my job(s) is that the results don't matter. In a great many places, the fans only care if the teams are good. But either the Cats or the Griz could go 11-0 or 0-11 and everything in between and people will still care greatly. In fact, the meltdown seasons of 2015 for Montana State and 2017 and 2018 for the Griz were some of the biggest numbers, most engagements and highest level of conversation we've ever been a part of at Skyline or ESPN.
In terms of the primary market, that's becoming an almost irrelevant factor. Sure, we are only on the radio in Western Montana. But we are in 100,000 homes daily on SWX, have thousands of views on the ESPN MT app, have thousands of listeners on the live stream and have more than 10,000 subscribers on the podcast of the show. You all have a ton to do with that, so thank you.
We make a talk show by Montanans for Montanans (and people who love anything to do with the state of Montana and Treasure State sports). We don't carter to or pander to any specific market, rather a statewide and Big Sky Conference angle on pretty much everything.
In terms of this latest breakdown, we intentionally wanted to land on a draw to make sure both sides kept talking about it all summer long. We will revisit the conversation in August. In the mean time, thanks so much for listening and if you have any friends or family who would like the show, just send them this:
Listen live on 102.9 FM or stream on 1029espn.com between 4-6 p.m. MST
Watch on SWX Montana Tv or ESPN MT app.
Listen archived on Nuanez Now podcast on all podcast hosting platforms, including Apple podcasts and Spotify.

So you intentionally ended with a conclusion that would result in “clicks” and talking points rather than what you actually believe? Just so that people will talk football in April? Yeah. Count me out dude. That’s not what most of us want.
