An amazing stat came up in the PSU game. There has been 31 points scored against the Cats in the first half in 8 games. 14 of those points were the 2 scoop and scores in the New Mexico game. Our Defense has given up 17 points combined in the first half in all of the games we have played so far this year, 2.125 points per game. Outstanding defense, keep it up.

That stat isn't quite accurate since one of the UNM defensive TDs happened in the second half. 24 total points and 3 points per game is still pretty damn good though! If you take out the UNM game they've only allowed 7 first half points in 7 games against FCS opponents...and the 7 they did allow required Idaho State to hit a fluky long pass on 4th and long.

A close hard fought game is exactly what the Cats didn’t need. Assuming all teams win out the Cats are likely the three seed. Would travel to Brookings in late December.
I strongly disagree that an MSU team with 12 D-1 wins would "likely" be seeded below an SDSU team with 9 D-1 wins. Nothing's ever certain but that seems incredibly hard for the committee to justify.
They don’t have to justify anything

Thanks for correcting this.

Maybe not publicly but they will in the committee room when they're doing the seeding. I don't think they'll just automatically slot the DSUs at 1 & 2 without considering other teams that also deserve consideration for those spots.

No way an undefeated BSC champ with an FBS win wouldn’t be 1 or 2 in ANY remaining scenario.

Does Weber losing hurt the Cats SOS?

No, we don't play them. Sac winning helps us.

There’s no way cats run the table they’re not 1 or 2…the only thing I don’t want to see is cats and NDSU both run the table…don’t want the cats be the 2 seed and have to face SDSU regardless if they get them at home.

I’m still in shock about how much Maine waxed ‘Nova by and it’s probably one of the best things that happened this weekend for the Cats. Next week they play URI who is 6-1 and if they can keep it rolling they will be ranked. That will add another ranked win for the Cats resume.

The thing is of all the FCS teams the Cats have played it felt like Maine was the worst. That game was 35-0 just a few minutes into the second qtr and while the final was closer it felt like the starters could have won that game 90-0.

I don't really see a scenario where we don't have to play both if we want to win it all so we might as well be ready for it. Plus if we don't beat both and win someone somewhere will always be trying to put a * next to it.

With seeding the top 16 this year. How does that bracket look? Is the #3 seed on the same side of the bracket as #1 or #2?

Same side as #2. Bracket looks exactly the same from the second round onward. This is from the preseason so the teams are vastly wrong, but the bracket looks like this: https://e8tpmrtk53q.exactdn.com/wp-cont ... sy=1&ssl=1

Could the gris get 4? I guess if they beat UCD, we beat UCD, then they beat us I could see it

Probably not, but it's honestly still too early to tell. Bracketology isn't really a useful thing until November, otherwise there's too many "what-ifs"
