Choate chose not to retain Eck as the Oline coach when was hired. It’s why he ended up at SDSU. A lateral move and probably paid less.

Edit: Choate had Armstrong pegged as his man 20 years before, so he was not keeping an Oline coach. I love Ecks style. He’s like a Jeff Choate in a lot of ways.
