First of all, I really feel terrible for the heartaches MSU athletes have given you, but you need to slow down and stop making wild remarks and grouping the entire team, program, and athletic department into the actions of a few idiots. The problem here is that you are able to take 100 kids in school at MSU and label them. Anything these kids do or say are done with a label on them. If any other idiot in your "CITY LEAGUE," acted stupid, they would just be labeled as an idiot. But as soon as it is a football player or other MSU athlete, they label the entire team with those actions. If you were able to take 100 MSU students, give them a label and put them in the spotlight, I would like to see what would happen.
Your comments and others' comments, are a sucker-punch to me and many other former student -athlete that gave everything they had to this university. It's a sucker-punch to the athletes that do great things for this community, as well. How bout the kids that work with Big Brother, Big Sister, go read to the elementary schools, speak to the troubled kids in the community. Do you think all of those kids are the Montana kids? the "NorthWest kids?" Are you doing those things on your free time? We have guys on our team that had tough, tough childhoods and coming to MSU might have been the best thing that ever happened to them.
This rant (that is way too long) is not 100% directed at you either, but all of the people that want to point the finger at a group, for an individual's behavior. I am glad you are a bobcat fan, and I hope you continue to be. But I hope we can look at the great things that MSU athletics does for the community as well.

Just curious. I would love to know the test you administer when recruiting that tells you that a kid will make a poor decision while at school or the one that tells you that kids no longer on the team will become drug dealers or killers. I am sure the coaches would love to have that test as well.Cannonball wrote:Let's let the Board of Regents decide that.
How low can a program go before action is taken. Do any of the other University systems have problems like State? Just looking at Northern, Western, Tech, U of M, Eastern BB program, no one rivals the State record.
Problems are there and they will be addressed. This is just not a student that made a wrong decisions issue, this is now to the point of who made the wrong deciision to bring the students to the State campus.
Maybe we should put language in the scholarship paperwork that forces all athletes to leave town once they are no longer on the team.
Blaming anyone other than the athletes or former athletes themselves for their decisions is absolutely ridiculous. That is part of the problem with society these days. We are always trying to lay blame with someone else rather than with those who make the bad choices.

Fuller shouldn't have been on the team all year. What a shame that he can sell cocaine to an informant and take up a starting position in front of other (Beach) players.
This happens a lot in criminal investigations; evidence is gathered but the investigation goes further trying to corral as many as possible or obtain additional evidence to strengthen the case. Unfortunately when the case goes to trial being caught red handed doesn't translate to an automatic guilty verdict; there are always long lists of extenuating circumstances that mitigate the situation. Think about it; does anyone stand up and take responsibility for their actions anymore... the last time you got pulled over for speeding... wasn't there a good reason.
On another note; regardless of where we recruit from we will have drug problems. There is a demand here; so the suppliers will come. We need to support the Athletic department in their endeavor to eliminate the problem from the field house. I suspect players/employees or others might have suspected these kids but didn’t do anything because they weren’t sure; they didn’t want to ‘snitch’ or they didn’t see it as their responsibility. That’s what needs fixing; is everyone in that department, everyone in that curriculum, teammates, and all of us as supporters need to make it our responsibility; quit blaming and leaving it to someone else. Our community and our school is what we put into it; without our contributions, and I’m not talking just monetary, the MSU will be another lost campus.

I find this all humorous that last year when 10 kids in the dorms were busted for cocaine and other drug charges it wasent even talked about. But know that it is MSU athletes it is a big deal!!!
Whether we like it or not we live on one of the bussiest drug freeways in the nation. You all know some one who has used, sold, or been involved in the drug scene. It may be your brother sister or even you kids. It has become a part of life here.
However these facts in this case are few and far between.
This bull ****** of every person that has done drugs being connected to lebrum and miller killing the kid this summer is crap!!!! Fuller should be expelled. Cocaine is the hot topic on the war on drugs! Is he linked to lebrum and miller doubtfull! Davis is allready expelled and should have been locked up for what he did to his girlfriend he could have been involved. Sullivan getting caught with marajuana and being linked to the death of kid this summer? Man maybe he shot JFK too right? The bozeman task force is a joke and I wouldnt be suprized to see attourneys make fools out of the task force for these alligations.
just my 2 cents

As an educator I am sickened by some of the overarching stereotypes that are being thrown out. Even though these people are/were MSU athletes does not mean they are immortal. Everyone makes mistakes, but those mistakes are acts of individuals not an entire program. Why don't we stop blaming the athletic department/football team and use our justice system that brings individuals to justice. Think of the simple rule you learned in social studies class about not stereotyping entire groups because of the actions of a select few.

I don't think any coaching staff should turn a blind eye, but they also shouldn't have to babysit adults. With the amount of problems in such a short time frame, I wonder more about the people they are recruiting than where they are recruiting. I've known plenty of jacka$$es from out of state and from Montana. Maybe it is just a coincidence that all of this is happening in a relatively short time, but maybe the recruitment focus of late has put a lot less emphasis on a student-athletes character and maybe that is where it should be refocused. The more states you recruit from, the higher the number of high character student-athletes to chose from. Granted you are competing with all of the major colleges in that state, but you've still got more student-athletes to chose from than if you limit yourself to one state.Au Blue wrote:=D^ :goodpost: excellent post badass... balou - thanks for the response. first, i was typing a lot out of pure emotion, so i may have been a little misunderstood. there have never been heartaches. my city league example was just fresh in my head. i am a die-hard fan like the rest of us. i attend every game i can, and cheer for the cats like no other. someone made the post that perhaps they are cheering for the helmet/jersey, and institution; and not always the people wearing them. and for a fan such as myself, sometimes it's difficult to go to a game and cheer on these guys, who on the saturday night the previous week at a house party were complete asses! yet every saturday i am so excited about cat football, and cheer these guys on. these is no question that there are some very good current and former cats in our community. but unfortunately for you, and every other good person in our community, the good stuff doesn't get any mention. and why should we have to give credit for being a good person and doing what you're supposed to do? i have yet to see an article on myself for not being a rapist or murder. not a single article about the fact that i don't do drugs. why no mention of the fact that i try to be a great father and husband? i've never been in a fight in my life, and yet that's not on the front page? let's face it...all that is posted as news is either great, i.e. championships, players going pro, etc., or very bad news. so kudos for all those kids that stay under the radar and don't get in trouble with the law. my point was that i have seen many athletes come through our program, thinking they DESERVE everything they get, be complete asses both in public, and on campus, and they have never been in trouble with the law. still doesn't mean they represent msu well. great work by you if you are one of the good ones who never walked around with a gigantic ego, and got your degree and did something. that's great. but the fact remains that we need to do something NOW about our reputation because we ALL look like idiots for being a part of this program right now.cat ballou wrote:I'm going to apologize for the length, because I know already this is going to be longwhitetrashgriz wrote:although not related, the timing of this incident really has me thinking more than ever about the school i love and the team i support. this isn't a black/white thing....it's an "athlete" thing. and not all athletes, but a good amount of them. i bet every one of us here has at least one story of a football or basketball player being a complete asshole. just yesterday i was telling my friends about these jerks in a CITY LEAGUE BASKETBALL GAME! supposed to be fun right? well, these jerks were running their mouths before the game, and during the game. flat out being pricks. if any of them know how to read, i hope they see this because they'll know who thery are. we beat them by 30 and it was a lot quieter! the point is, i was telling my friends how i feel like a sucker for cheering for these guys. i couldn't talk for 3 days after the furman game because my throat was shot. and for what? these guys have no respect for any of us, our school or our town. and it's a tough situation for us fans. part of me wants to just say ****** you msu, and move on. but that wouldn't do anything because every school is the same. and it's because we treat these guys like gods. and they buy into it. but you know what, screw them. just a little FYI for any athlete reading this. just because you play a sport, doesn't mean you are a wonderful person who can do whatever they wish where ever they wish. it doesn't work that way. pull your ******' heads out and try to comprehend that you are just a dude like the rest of us. and after2 or 3 years here, you won't be in the nba, and you won't be in the nfl. but unfortunately, many of you will still be here. and because you chose to be an idiot, and didn't take advantage of your free school, you'll have to live in the past. you'll have to act like you're some king ****** because you USED to play for the cats. and you'll have to sell weed, meth and coke to supoort your own habbits, and pay your tabs at the zebra and k.o.'s. that's if these establishments even make royalty such as yourselves pay! for all you legit athletes, i commend you. sadly, for many of us you'll all just be thrown into the mix, and be looked at in the same light as this trash that i bring my children to see on saturdays.![]()

7. BAC posted earlier that racist remarks would be disguised as a concern and a push to only recruit only MT or Pac. NW kids and he was right.
I do not condone the use, possession, or distribution of any illegal drug by anyone, hopefully these guys will receive the harshest penalties possible, and we will be able to use them as an example to any other dumb ass (black, white, green or purple) that if you do something illegal in Bozeman you will be caught and you will disgrace not only yourself but you family, your race, your team, and this institution. Enough ranting for one morning I welcome any rebuttals.

Do you have some connection to the accused or just talking out of your ass.STREETCAT wrote: Is he linked to lebrum and miller doubtfull! Sullivan getting caught with marajuana and being linked to the death of kid this summer? Man maybe he shot JFK too right? The bozeman task force is a joke and I wouldnt be suprized to see attourneys make fools out of the task force for these alligations.
just my 2 cents
I have a connection with the task force and your 2 cents...well...we'll just have to wait and see.

Hang on a second. Let's not forget that the recruiters are under a lot of pressure to bring a winner to MSU and just who do you think applies that pressure? So lets not exonerate ourselves of any blame. We ALL piss and moan whenever Bailey makes a bad call or Kramer pulls a bonehead play, lets include ourselves in this equation instead of just pointing fingers elsewhere. There's enough blame to go around.

Great post badasscat! It's important to point out what was mentioned on another thread about that this is still fall-out from last summer. A lot has been done since then at the University to prevent future occurrences. So these are not recent things that happened. We need to keep that in perspective.
I know Coach Kramer has already talked about the changes they have made in recruiting to help further prevent these types of situations. There are many positive things that have been done already since last summer and more being done as I write. Will we ever be able to eliminate this 100% --NO as these are college students and we all know from our own experreinces it's a time in our lives when we do make mistakes. Fortunately, for the overwhelming majority the mistakes are not that serious.
I hope if more people are involved in this incident from last summer that they get it wrapped up so we can put this behind us and move forward with the positve efforts being made. Let the justice system take care of the bad apples and hopefully be a lesson for all current and future athletes that have the opportunity to be a student athelte at MSU.
In the interim I think we all need to step up to the plate and do whatever we can do to help our community become the type of place we all want it to be.

Just my opinion no I do not have a connection to the accused. Talking out of my ass no. U honestly think that every drug case in bozeman is connected to Lebrum and Miller??? You might want to hang the badge up nowPonycat wrote:as far as you knowSTREETCAT wrote: However these facts in this case are few and far between.Who in their right mind has ever said this?STREETCAT wrote: This bull ****** of every person that has done drugs being connected to lebrum and miller killing the kid this summer is crap!!!!

This type of thing does not happen just in Bozeman and it is not limited to athletes. This happens in Missoula just as much but they just do a better job of keeping it out of the media. UM must have a very good relationship with the media to protect their athletes. Look a Murphy, he was just named 1-AA All-American yet he was caught dealing Cocaine this past summer, but someone else took the fall for it. Did you start calling the Regents over that incident? So don't get to carried away before you start making phone calls.crazycat wrote:Well if it isn't smack, then why are you referring to MSU with Bobby Hauck's signature line "State"? Nice try at disguising your post. Hauck once pissed on someone's head because that person was associated with MSU. There's some quality. Just make sure your own house is clean before coming over here.badasscat wrote:Do you really think your phone call is going to make a difference? I don't think that State has to worry about losing Kramer to Idaho now. With the record of a coach dealing drugs, an alleged murder by a former player, and now more drug dealings by current and former players no other program in the nation would want anything to do with the coach who recruited and hired the quality, or lack thereof, of players and coaches that have entered the State program since Kramer has been at the helm.
I, for one, will be on the phone tomorrow to the Board of Regents, to demand that they look at this on going embarssment to the State of Montana. This has to end now.
