We generally don't lock threads unless people are being really abusive (and then we tend to get rid of them as well). If we all just quit replying to this thread, it will put itself to bed. In the meantime, the posts that have been made recently appear to be quite civil, so I don't personally see any reason for moderator involvement.
The recent posts also seem to contain many counter-points to the assertions made by the new posters that probably are relevent to the discussion.

Thank you. To ScatCat who complained when it was suggested some may have an agenda, please read the above. I find it somewhat fascinating how some people who would never otherwise find themselves on a board like this come running here when they have an axe to grind. Whatever did we do before there were anonymous public message boards where you could air all your frustrations and level any types of accusation and criticism without ever having to answer for what you say.tetoncat wrote:My main concern is the tone of the comments by some who have relatively few posts. They have signed on and joined this thread for the sole purpose to complain about specifics of these situations. I have more respect for those in agreement or opposed to what happened who are regular posters and have formed an opinion. It just appears that if you join to complain you have an axe to grind and are onesided on facts.
Edit to add: In response to the lock request, I agree with what Brad has said in the post just before this one.

Excellent post. Like it or not, things happen for a reason and some things that may seem bad at the time end up working out in the long run. I wish Q and Chawn all the best. They are good kids and will succeed anywhere they go that is for sure.couloir41 wrote:i hate to throw a bucket of perspective on this thread but...these kids are going to go to an institution of higher learning and play a game they obviously love...and in the process be given a lot of advantages if they work hard...
other kids their age a fighting a war...
life is not fair...it is choices and circumstances...and each person's circumstances are different and each person handles them in a different way...good luck to them...

Alright, I know the naysayers on this thread will say this is a bs and Huse is just blowing smoke, but I felt that another side of the story needed to be presented in this thread. From today's Chronicle article by Welsch which was posted in another thread:

The revolving door in the Montana State men’s basketball office has finally stopped but not before sweeping in two more players and sending another out — though perhaps temporarily in the latter’s case.
Firstyear coach Brad Huse has added Jonathan Malloy, a 6-foot-5 freshman guard/forward from Centennial High School in Compton, Calif., and Donovan Schultz, a 6-7 power forward from Otero Junior College in a Junta, Colo.
Meanwhile, redshirt freshman power forward Chawn Johnson has left the program to play at Antelope Valley (Calif.) Junior College in his hometown. Johnson wanted playing time this year, and Huse said Wednesday that the two mutually agreed that he’d be better off working on his game at a two-year school.
Both left open the possibility that he might return to MSU next year.
“We’ve had some long, positive-hearted talks and came to the conclusion that maybe he would like to look at an opportunity of getting to play right away,” Huse said. “I was fair with him in my analysis and where I saw things working for him in the short term. I think it worked out as well as it possibly could.
“I think we left on really good terms on both sides.”
