So this is third hand - a friend's girlfriend's daughter dates a football player. Latest word is SDSU campus entirely closed. The campus is empty. No Staff. They are looking into postponing the game. We are trying to confirm so i did not want to start a Panic new post based on rumor that has some legs but not confirmed. Things looking really bad that way - roads, airports, campuses all closed. Hoping they can pull something off.
UPDATE:

So SDSU definitely closed today. If closed tomorrow, not sure how they put on a game???
Unless MSU’s team can’t get there, it’s not getting postponed. I live in Brookings and have friends on staff. The staff that isn’t on campus is academic staff, not athletics or facilities. There is about 5 inches of snow on and it isn’t going to snow tomorrow. I don’t think they are going to postpone because the western part of the state is buried. We’ve had worse weather and played in it many times. Unless the team can’t travel, 0 % Chance this game is getting postponed based on what’s going on right now, in Brookings, with the weather.
Well I certainly understand. But hear me out. How bout we do a little home and home swap. Let’s switch it up….You guys come to Bozeman this Saturday and next fall we come over there.
My logic is that it doesn’t seem like fan attendance will be overwhelmingly to your advantage on Saturday and we are supposed to be a “balmy” 24 in Bozeman with winds less than 10 mph. So it could be a win-win scenario. The better weather would help your air raid offense and next fall you guys would get another home game against a tough opponent as you try for another title run….and it would avoid unsafe travel conditions to Brookings by many of our Cat fans and it “might” enable more Cat fans to attend a game in Bozeman this Saturday….we promise to keep attendance under 20,000.

Thanks for the info. How's the airport in Sioux Falls? a lot of cancelations today?
https://flightaware.com/live/airport/KFSD
Sioux Falls airport is open and appears to be operating normally. The announcement on SDSU's website about administrative offices being closed today is immediately followed by one about Food Service being open until Sunday for students who are staying to attend the football game. I don't see any reason to believe that this game won't be played as scheduled.

I agree that as long as the MSU team can get there the game will NOT be postponed. I wonder if the ESPN tv crew is on site yet?

Fans might struggle getting there. Hope they all do safely. Teams will be there and the game will happen.
Can't wait!

Not that I know of, but there could be.
Ok that is way better info than i have at this point. But the rumor we have does have to do with getting there. However, first hand knowledge is way better. I think the game goes on as long as teams and TV crew can get there. 5" is nothing so that is good news.

Football equipment is almost to Mitchell, SD
Not thinking there is any reason it won’t make Brookings in the morning well ahead but of the team.

Wow, they’ve done well to get that far with the truck with the road closures and all. Everyone has talked about teams and ESPN, and I’d forgotten about the equipment — will be good to have helmets and all that stuff.

The equipment truck driver should get a bonus! Is he the same guy to trucked through the storms on his way to Texas last year?

I just VERY RELUCTANTLY canceled my trip a couple of hours before takeoff from Billings. Was flying Billings-Denver-Fargo and driving to Brookings. I-29, however, is closed and even though we had all day Friday to go 190 miles there is no guarantee it will be open. VERY DISAPPOINTED. @#$%@@??!@$@$@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Prudent, if it’s still windy. That stretch of I-29 is nasty. It’s crosswind, which can help clear or make deeper drifts. And the tallest hill is by the rest area and it’s probably 15 feet tall on a quiet day. No shelter, and no definition on the skyline.

I don’t get why the team is flying in Friday afternoon. I would think leaving Thursday would make more sense. Maybe that’s just me though

If I am the coach, I would want to keep the exact same routine that we have done for road games the past few years.

I think it’s finals week. MSU has a weird system where football players actually attend classes and take their own tests. And you are right about the routine.
