Father played in the NFL, brother still does. Excited to see how he can contribute.

Good speed. Highly touted coming out of high school. Forney teammate and he were considered the top corner duo in the Dallas area. Forney is where Preston Gale is from. I would guess he's someone MSU had contacted while he was in high school.
MSU - 17 team National Champions (most recent 2025); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Was heavily recruited out of HS in 2024... we'll see what Vigen and co can do with this kid!

Dad played for Dallas for four years. Brother is with the Texans and has about 10 years in the NFL.

Re: Gianni Edwards signs
The instinct is to say "great get!" unless he backs out and then you say "eh... wasn't that good anyways." I've learned this approach at egriz.com.
But instead I'll just say two things:
1) The high success rate of transfers at MSU should give people a lot of hope.
2) This was the highest need position group on the roster.

Hard to say....I would imagine Victor will be coming out with a story in the next few weeks. He generally does a pretty good job telling the story of how a player ended up deciding on MSU.

This is an article from last year, when Gianni committed to the Wildcats.

I don’t imagine he will be on campus until summer.

Re: Gianni Edwards signs
Gianni Edwards - 5'11 170 CB, North Forely TX HS (transfer from Arizona)
His Maxx Preps has him running a 11.04 100 Meter, but that was recorded in 2024. I'm sure he has gotten faster in these last 2 years, but couldn't find his updated 40 yard or 100 meter times.
His 247 Sports listed him as an 86 rated 3 star out of high school(same rating as Steptoe this year), but Edwards had a whopping 18 FBS offers and 2 FCS offers.
These FBS offers included the following...
Michigan State, Arizona, Boise State, Houston, SMU, Memphis, UTSA, Tulsa, Arizona State, Texas State, Arkansas State, UTEP, Costal Carolina, Louisiana Tech, North Texas, Colorado State, Maryland, and Colorado...
He looks like a pretty good get, might see the field early on, but we have some major talent coming back there, and many more talented DBs coming in as freshman this year. This spring/summer should be very competitive in the DB room, and the good news for us is they are all taking reps against a Walter Payton watchlist QB and a couple of All American caliber, route running WRs... Should sharpen them up pretty quickly. I like the move for this guy, time will tell how good of a get he is!

The freshman safety battled injuries in his first season and did not appear in a game
