I think the other 2 true freshmen are more physically ready to play, size and build wise. More like 190-200lbs. Better fit for what we ask our corners to do.AFCAT wrote: ↑Sat Jan 24, 2026 9:36 pmMight not be able to sit him this season.GoldstoneCat wrote: ↑Sat Jan 24, 2026 8:32 pmThis one feels like a Seth Johnson/Carson Williams type, sit a year play a year plan.

Re: Brian Harris commits
I don't know man, this kid is kind of like McMillan, but as tall as Johnson and Williams. He is FAST! Not only is he fast, but has better hands/ball skills than our recent CBs have. The only thing I will question is how well does he adjust to the D1 level. How quickly can he pick up on the schemes, and how well does he tackle in the run game. Time will tell, but I wouldn't bet against him to start for us this year if he shows up in the summer and balls out. If anything, he will be fantastic depth for us.GoldstoneCat wrote: ↑Sun Jan 25, 2026 6:42 pmI think the other 2 true freshmen are more physically ready to play, size and build wise. As others have said, if they go a 9 game redshirt it's basically moot.BlueAndGoldNation wrote: ↑Sun Jan 25, 2026 6:52 pmI don't know man, this kid is kind of like McMillan, but as tall as Johnson and Williams. He played 3A ball I believe. I don’t know how much difference there is between 3A and 6A. He’s not as fast as Ross or Boyd. But very fast.BlueAndGoldNation wrote: ↑Sun Jan 25, 2026 6:52 pmI don't know man, this kid is kind of like McMillan, but as tall as Johnson and Williams. He is FAST! Enrollment for 3A is same as big B and small A schools in Montana.

I tend to agree. Seems to me we’ve pretty consistently gotten 2-4 DBs from Texas, and there’s no reason to think that the next crop of guys won’t be amazing like the last few have been. Maybe it’s unfair to expect we’ll be as good as last year, but we’ll be plenty good.Bobcatsswag wrote: ↑Mon Jan 26, 2026 9:58 pmWith Carr and Boyd in the secondary with the incoming guys we gonna be just fine!!!

In addition to that thought, the fact that 3 of them moved on to the next level won't hurt with recruiting there either. They talk to each other I'm sure, and none that left had anything bad to say about MSU, at least didn't seem like it. Go to MSU, take the development opportunity they offer, compete for and win a natty, then move up and get paid. Though I'm not a fan of the portal, guys who use it properly, and utilize the coaching and support offered by Vigen and Co, can benefit.JoeCatsJoe wrote: ↑Tue Jan 27, 2026 6:37 amI tend to agree. Re: Brian Harris commits
This is probably how the conversation goes. "If you go to FBS P4, your are a redshirt year 1, on practice squad year 2, a backup in year 3..... If you go G6, redshirt year 1, backup year 2, may start or bounce out year 3. If you go to MSU, we develope you and you determine when you play. We start the best player at the position...... And if you excell, stay and contribute or bounce to FBS to compete.nanacat wrote: ↑Tue Jan 27, 2026 9:27 amIn addition to that thought, the fact that 3 of them moved on to the next level won't hurt with recruiting there either. I'm certain they are going to give Steptoe and Krien a long look as contributors in camp. Maybe this kid too although he's not nearly as big and physical as those guys. Will depend on who develops, can Carr take another step, do they look to move one of the safety/ nickel types out to corner (my guess would be gray or Meredith).Bobcatsswag wrote: ↑Mon Jan 26, 2026 9:58 pmWith Carr and Boyd in the secondary with the incoming guys we gonna be just fine!!!

I absolutely love this and especially the timing!!! The rest of the country is chasing transfers and we get a commitment from a high school player before a commitment from a portal guy.

Re: Brian Harris commits
hitchcock is down by galveston beach about an hour south of Houston....I grew about 45 west of where he is. Hitchcock always always always has some pure athletes.....they are right next to a city called lamarque which went to state 4years in a row and won 3 i believe...a lot of those lamarque kids actually live in hitchcock and their family hails from there....so hitchock has real talent....he's a good player, I watched his team a couple of years back, they had a really strong group of young guys on the 7v7 circuit. really good in and out of breaks, very good speed, a play maker....he's raw, hitchock is a smaller town and they aren't like some of the bigger schools in texas...he hasn't had the best coaching on his tech....he's one that I don't see being ready early, but will by great late...it all depens on how quickly he can clean up some aspects of his technique.
