The Line 2003 Series

Post by BighornsBobcat » Mon Jan 12, 2026 7:11 pm

Hi folks,

I hope you all are still enjoying the Natty victory as much as I am. I'm asking about a random piece of Bobcats media I stumbled upon on YouTube this week. According to the title, it's a rip of DVD 2 of a 13-part documentary series that followed the 2003 Bobcats called The Line.

I just think this is the most fascinating time capsule. As a younger fan who graduated from MSU in 2023, I first started watching the Cats during the McGhee years as a kid. I've had a hard time finding a whole lot of highlights/full games from a lot of those seasons, much less the Lulay/Kramer era, so finding this was a massive score. It's very 2003 in the best way, especially the soundtrack, and it's an amazing illustration of how long we've been building to the culmination of this championship season. Also much more in depth and heartfelt than you'd expect at times, you really get to know a lot of the players, coaching staff, and others around the program.

I traced this video back to this Reddit post but other than that, the only other trace of this existing that I could find were a handful of times on this forum like here and here. Apparently you could order the DVD set straight from the production company's website back in the day, but of course that's long gone. So all that to say, if any of you remember more details about how this series came about, have a copy, or a lead on how to get one, that would be sick!

Edit: Trying to get the video embed to work lol, new to this

We had a copy of this, but after a few years of different people borrowing it, it never re-appeared. I wish I still had it. It was a great series. Thanks for posting the link. Too bad it's not the whole series.

Kramer put in a lot of work to get the QB club rolling. No internet, travelled to different cities every week to have separate meetings.

Edit to add: We had internet back then but it wasn't like now where you can stream the meeting everywhere.

If anyone has the whole series or any MSU games on DVD or video tape, let me know and I can digitize them for you and you can upload them to YouTube. No, I won’t digitize your vacation videos or other home movies.

I have the DVD's but I don't need them much since "The Line" is on You Tube now.

Damn, just spent an hour or so watching this and does it bring back some memories. They couldn't have picked a crazier season to film for that! Hayden Ferguson, the booster prominently featured in that was always a lot of fun. I remember him getting absolutely livid during a game in Pocatello at a poor popcorn vendor who blocked his view of a key play while just doing her job.

Yep, there was some discussion about The Line in last year's NC game thread. See here.

@rfischer94 , did you ever find a full copy to watch the whole series? @bvancleeve is featured prominently in it as well... And he posted a couple videos from the early Kramer years on YouTube as well

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

Do you have a link to the entire series? I can only find the one episode on Youtube.

Thanks for all your insight guys! @gtapp or @RICO CAT you guys should link with @AFCAT so he can get the whole series on YouTube! Or if anyone here is willing to sell their physical copies, PM me, I'm definitely interested. Would also be sweet to watch this in the original format, it looks like the video I found was cropped to 16:9 and it cuts off the scoreboard graphic during games which make those scenes kind of hard to follow.

Truly remarkable what Kramer did to build the QB Club. That scene where he's in a bar somewhere talking about injuries and finishes by saying "... and I have no idea who's going to long snap. No idea," absolutely killed me. We've come a long way.

One of the biggest reasons MSU is successful today. If you can, join the QB club.

I remember back in the day, Kramer would get in a little 2-seater airplane and fly to the different BQC locations every week for in-person meetings. Coach Krames did an amazing job of breathing life into a program and a fan base. The dude had so much energy and passion.

It's also amazing that the BQC dues have remained the same all this time.

This is shown in the first episode of the YouTube video linked above, Kramer flies up to Great Falls for a QBC meeting with maybe 15-20 people there in attendance. You have to think not many coaches would have been willing to take that much time out of their day to travel around the state and interact with boosters like that. Kramer is remembered for a lot of the bad things that happened on his watch but he really did lay the foundation for what the Bobcat program now is.
