Who will be QB2 next year and is that a concern?
River Warren? I think it’s a concern cause we gotta have the dude in place to take the reins from Lamson in 2027. Probably get a lot of playing time as well in many games the Cats will put out of reach.

Why wouldn’t it be Duchien again? He’ll be a Sophomore next year with his own chance to start for two years after that.

Although I’d expect Warren and Vigen to be very much in the mix as well next offseason.

Not to hijack this thread, but I am really excited to watch Coon next year. Jones/Coon tandem should be awesome.

Yeah, I was just looking at next season's schedule...I don't want to be too over confident but yeah...there's going to be some lopsided scores and a lot of opportunities for the second and third stringers.

He’s back. We’re back to back. We need to beat NDSU or SDSU next year in the natty. Davis will be #2 in the league and we don’t play them.

At Utah Tech
Butler
At Nevada
CentConn
NAU
At Idaho
At EWU
Weber
Poly
At ISU
At UNC
Um

Maybe ISU will be good. Nevada will give a little resistance.

THIS!

A friend coached against Sheridan in the Wyoming state title game and they said Steel was really good, but Coon was their biggest problem.

Very excited to see what he can bring.

Seemed like everytime he got the ball it was 8 yds+.

We gotta hope that two or three of Idaho State, Northern Arizona, Eastern Washington, or Weber State have some sort of return to form. Besides our games with Nevada and UM, we are looking pretty thin for strength of Schedule. I really wish we would play Davis this year to get another top 25 matchup, but oh well.

I haven’t placed a bet on sports in more than 20 years, and I’m already thinking about putting some money down at the start of the season for the Cats to win it all.

UI, ISU. unco and nau should be good games. We need to get a lot of 2s and 3s playing time early and often. Keep down the injuries and develop guys to stay another year.

Yeah, injuries will be the key, just like the are every year. This past season, the injury bug didn't hurt as much as it did in 2024.

Hopefully the oline coach can cut the false starts. We had problems in the red zone all year long. The last game would have been a blowout without them

There'll be some ranked BSC teams. If you have a winning record at any given time and you're in the BSC, you're almost automatically getting votes, especially if you've done well in the past. Teams like Weber, UM, Idaho, EWU get ranked when they're .500.

Not too concerned about strength of schedule, if MSU goes 12-0 or 11-1 with a loss to Nevada then it's hard to imagine a scenario in which they wouldn't be a Top 2 seed heading into the playoffs.

Agreed, but a weaker SOS leaves little room for error.

The defending National champ that goes undefeated against the FCS(or overall) will certainly be the 1 or 2 seed.
But if they dropped a game or two that nobody’s expecting, that’s where it could get interesting with a not so great SOS. I don’t think it’d be a huge drop, but a single loss to an FCS team could definitely drop a team out of the top 2 spots depending on what else is going on with the other top teams.

At ISU and at Idaho are the immediate concerning games in my mind. Not that I think we'll lose but those two locations have been problematic in recent history. Different teams, coaches, etc, but still.
