Before brawl 1.0, I thought first team to 24 would win.
Before 2.0, I thought it would likely be first to 27.

Natty: first to 27 wins (I don’t think ISU can score more than that against this defense). My heart and head tells me Cats score between 34-42, and ISU scores 20-27.

I just hope the team comes out and plays aggressively after having the national championship rug pulled out from under them twice. No slow starts, no allowing 64-yard QB sneaks up the middle. That still hurts. It’s going to be a battle so be ready for a fight against those Angry Birds who thrive on swooping down on unsuspecting teams upsetting them.

They are a big physical team that wants to control the clock with a gamer at QB. However, if we get the edge in the run game...that opens up the rest of our offense and those big boys are going to be gassed by the 4th. We need to score first and set the pace of the game because Spack wants to make this a Mercyhurst/Yale type game (heavy TOP advantage and shorten the game).

If they struggle with our speed and our defense comes to play, we win by 20+.

If they struggle with our speed but our defense struggles, we win by 10+.

If we aren't efficient on offense and our defense struggles...it's a toss up.
Do they have depth on dline. Starters there and LB seem to have most of stats. Do they funnel plays for LB to get tackles similar to what Griz have done in past.
Not a ton of rotation. Defense is built to not be on the field for 25+ minutes in a game. When you see their biggest wins, they approach 40+ minutes in TOP offensively. My biggest key to us winning is getting to the edge in the run game. If we don't, the passing game will have to force that advantage. Not that I don't think we can inside zone them to death but we tried that last year against a stout front and we wasted two quarters of offense.

MSU 31-21. We lead 24-21 going into the 4th quarter, then put together a long time consuming scoring drive on our first possession of the 4th, just like we did after the gris took a 23-20 lead in the SF game. We score with maybe 4-5 minutes remaining to go up 31-21, and the defense closes it out after that.

The team with the best quarterback almost always wins. NDSU had no secrets other than rolling out Jensen, Wentz, Stick, Lance, Miller etc. QBs were so close last year that it took the Raiders to sort them out. Who has the best QB this year? That team flies home to Montana with the trophy.

Their oline goes 6’4” 300-330. Rushed for 173 yds and passed for 250 vs NDSU. Held the Bison 59 yds rushing.

If we can match their physicality Cats can win. If we don’t could be a slow death.
I second this prediction. They are big and physical and have shown poise in controlling the clock. Need to guard against overconfidence and stay focused.

I predict the team with the most points will likely win the game.

That team is the Cats.

Up 17-14 at half, grind out the clock in 2nd half to win 31-17. Go Cats, let 530 get here quick!

I think this is pretty likely.

I get the feeling this game will be tight and we will be pulling our hair out much of the time. We have a potential double-whammy going against us in this game. We always come out slow after a bye AND this team played poorly after playing the gris. Coming off the biggest Cat-gris game ever, in conjunction with a bye week, gives me the heebie-jeebies. I think our defense keeps us in it and our offense has difficulty finding its footing. Much like the Yale game. Cats pull it out 17-14.

No chance we only score 17 points. Not tonight!!! More like 38-22

They had a “bye” also.

Hurts them more in my opinion. They was rolling down hill.
Now, back up Rocky Mountain Top.

Payton never left the pocket in that game and the Bison never tried to go to the edges. The OC didn’t make adjustments for what ISU was taking away. I don’t think that game is the best measurement of how MSU will match up with ISU. Spack will surely try but I don’t see it going that way at least not the whole game.
