Re: Must see, must eat in Nashville?
+1 for the country music HOF and the Ryman.
Also, I make a point to always hit up Jack's on Broadway for BBQ at least once every time I'm in Nashvegas. Best smoked pork shoulder I've EVER had. And the portions are stupid; you get your money's worth, no doubt! Perfect hole in the wall BBQ joint.
Parlor Doughnuts is pretty good, as is the breakfast at The Row Kitchen & Pub. Both within easy walking distance of the main area around Vanderbilt ( just a bit east). I've stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Vanderbilt on Broadway closer to Vandy than to the Downtown music district where Jack's and Assembly Food Hall is located.

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

Boy your time is so limited…you are gonna have to focus on only a couple things.
The Country Music HOF, Johnny Cash Museum and Ryman tour have been mentioned multiple times and I concur. These are all downtown so easily doable if staying DT.
About 20 min ride from DT, right now the Gaylord Opry Hotel and Convention Center is massive. They have all their Christmas lights up and the annual ICE show is on…6000 blocks of ice carved into Charlie Brown Christmas village this year….closing with nativity scene ice carvings. Lights inside are pretty.
Get tickets online if you can. Some tours are timed like ice show…I mean your pass allows you in at a set time just to spread out the crowd.
Tennessee is known for whiskey and BBQ so pick one of BBQ joints folks mentioned I have none to add. Southern fried chicken is excellent and Hattie Bs or Princes Chicken you won’t go wrong. I thought the Jack Daniels tour was too expensive so passed on that and you won’t have time to drive out to smaller local distilleries that are a “piece” away.
If more of burger and brat person and into brew tasting, I enjoy The Pharmacy. It has about 4 burgers on menu and 3 brats/wurst…that’s it!…guess a couple vegetarian entries too. But all are tasty with way too many fries!!! Rustic setting! Service is quick if not peak hours…we arrived about 5:15 last night and got right in. By 6:15 it was packed with waiting line. The other thing I like is that they are not a brewery but they have about 30 craft beers from local breweries and they rotate beers. So you can sample the local fare. Reasonable price for large families. But I am sure those recommended by others work too.

Thanks for the suggestions, all of you! Going to have to prioritize for sure. Thinking BBQ is a must do, and though I'm not a beer drinker, my son likes craft brews so we'll have to find a place that has both! Sure looking forward to it!

Just an FYI. We did buy ice show online just because we had small kids and we wanted to insure entry time.nanacat wrote: ↑Tue Dec 30, 2025 12:32 pmYes, very quick trip unfortunately.
