FCS check down

Lamberty around 16 min

Vigen about 27 min
I had no idea those two were going to be on this show. I was hesitant to click on it because so many of these podcasts are so lame. What a pleasant surprise. FCS CheckDown is a good podcast.

Illinois State offensive line is a typical Missouri Valley line.

From all reports the Illinois State runs a 3-3-5 which we typically can gash in run game, but bigger issue they it sounds like they have a couple 300 lb DT that clog up lanes and let Niekamp run all over.

Like the Griz with Gubner. Our offensive game plan will have to work its way around that.

I was listening to one podcast today, can't remember which one, but they mentioned Rittenhouse's interception numbers this season. We all know he threw 5 vs NDSU and they still won somehow, but whoever it was I was listening to, (several today, lol) said something about that potentially being a big factor in this game if the Cats take the ball away alot.

He was really clean for most of the season. He came into week 13 having thrown 4 INT’s total.

In the five games since, he’s thrown 8 total interceptions, including at least one in every playoff game.

Looks more like a 3-4-4. The depth chart has three DL, a Jack, who is LB sized and three LBs, four DBs.

ISU's defense is more like what MSU ran under Choate, more of a 43 with a buck or a 34 with a jack. I is nothing like um's version of the 335. the plan is to load the box and stop the run, make you beat them with the pass.

This is exactly what they did against NDSU. There was nothing to be had on the ground and the long ball wasn’t there either. Payton was smothered and they didn’t even attempt any screen passes, quick outs or anything that looked outside their normal game plan.

What seems weird about that game is NDSU didn't attack the edges very much, and Peyton stayed in the pocket and was reluctant to run. I think NDSU thought they would win with 3 yards and a cloud of dust, ISU caught a couple breaks late in the game and took it.

Why would they change anything? They had the game well in hand until they didn't. Vigen better keep his foot on the gas if we get a lead because they can score quick.

Better be able to score quick when you only need to go 41 and 23 to get in the end zone. I'm not knocking ISU but if you told me I was going to be down 14 with 4:31 to go but that I'd only need 64 (67 counting 2-point) yards to get 15 points, I'd be a tad encouraged.

Saw that Michelle Williams of Destiny's Child is an ISU alum and immediately thought of this clip

https://www.tiktok.com/@jackieejs/video ... 1139100974

"She is arguably the third best child of destiny"

Also fun fact Michelle Williams from Dawson's Creek was born in Kalispell.
