Must see, must eat in Nashville?

Post by nanacat » Mon Dec 29, 2025 10:49 am

Never been there before, what's a can't miss? Arrive late Sunday night, fly out at noon Tuesday, so very short time to do much, but will have much of the day Monday for a little sight seeing and certainly lunch at least. Any tips are appreciated.
Oh, and the game is at 6:30 Nashville time, correct?

Peg Leg Porker for bbq. It's been a while since I've been to Nashville but that's one of the only places I remember by name.

The Parthenon, about 2 or 3 blocks north of FirstBank stadium on the north end of Cenntinial Park. Guess they have one in Greece too !

I was in Nashville a few months ago for a couple of concerts and here's some of the things that we did or had on the list to do. I'm sure there's people with more experience, but figured I'd toss some stuff out.

Sites to See:
Country Music Hall of Fame (country is not my thing, but was cool)
Johnny Cash Museum
Ryman or Grand Ole Opry Tour
Parthenon (I was skeptical, but thought it was pretty cool)
Third Man Records (if you're into music)

Breweries
Tailgate Brewery
Marble Fox Brewing
Yee-Haw Brewing
Bearded Iris Brewing (probably had my favorite IPA with their Homestyle)

Restaurants
Hattie B's (great Nashville hot chicken)
Peg Leg Poker (fantastic BBQ)
Martin's BBQ (ditto on the BBQ)
Broadway Brewhouse had solid food. Kind of divey, but I dug it.
Assembly Food Hall (tons of options)
Velvet Taco in the Vanderbilt area had great tacos

Bars (I don't remember a lot of the ones I went to...)
Robert's Western World (Far and away my favorite on music row. Home of the "Recession Special:" fried bologna sandwich that comes with chips, a moonpie and PBR. All the food and drink was lower cost than I expected).
Whiskey Bent Saloon
Legends Corner

+1 for Hattie B's

Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

As a Montana native who has been living in Nashville for 5+ years, it really depends on what you are into. Nashville is often connected with the country music industry (for good reason) but there is so much more than that to check out while you're here. Plenty of options for all sorts of live music, great dining options, awesome bars to check out (broadway is cool for a bit, but so many other awesome watering holes around town), and plenty of other family friendly options to check out as well.

If anyone has any specific recommendations they are wanting feel free to let me know and will do my best to point you in a good direction. Looking forward to welcoming so many fellow Cats to the Music City!

Been to Nashville many times.

Dee's Country Cocktail lounge (and the Mexican joint nextdoor. Name is escaping me)

Dukes...great bar, awesome sandwiches

Edleys BBQ....best in Nashville IMO

If you like bluegrass, The Station Inn

Not specific to Nashville, but if you've never been, get Bogangles. You're welcome.

well.......we gonna pitch it!

I can attest to The Country Music HOF. We went to the Grand Old Opry at Ryman Theater. SUPER COOL EXPERIENCE. Martins BBQ was a treat too!

We saw a joint on the tv show Cheap Eats called “I Dream of Weenie”. My wife insisted we go. The menu was all about hot dogs. Of course she got the T-shirt!

I've always enjoyed The Stage on Broadway. While all the Broadway spots get talented local performers, I think that one gets the best. The Highwaymen mural seals the deal. Tootsies is more "historic" though and should be on the list.

BBQ is fine anywhere - just grab at least one hot chicken sammy.

Very close to campus. This is one I want to try since we're staying out there.

If you're staying downtown and near Broadway (east of the campus and stadium), Printers Alley is stuffed with cool bars and eateries. We're staying around the corner, so we'll be checking out those spots.

can't argue with any of these

+

Breakfast food:
Monell's
Frothy Monkey - best coffee
Biscuit Love

Pastries:
Paris Baguette

Outside of Broadway music - which is a scene - if you can get in:
Bluebird Cafe
The Listening Room
City Winery

alternative to Hattie B's - Princes Hot Chicken

Eclectic, good food but pricey:
Sinatra Bar - live Sinatra singer each night
