Season ticket for the past 15 years and didn't get extras. Looking for one ticket for my brother who is also a Bobcat.

Delta Airlines provides seat upgrades to only frequent flyers and not just casual flyers. Hilton provides room upgrades based on the guests member status. Almost every organization has some type of status based on spending. That is just the way the world works. I really don’t see any issue with how MSU handled this.

In my professional opinion , the folks who requested tickets way back before Thanksgiving should have been given first crack based on priority points. Then, those that requested tickets prior to the new December 11th deadline should have been given an opportunity based on priority points. Whatever was left after that should have gone by priority points to those who requested after the December 11th deadline. I don't think that would have been too difficult, and those who got in line first would have been served first.

No, the apples to apples comparison would be Alaska Airlines giving out extra companion fare tickets to their frequent flyers therefore reducing the number of available seats to non-frequent flyers. In fact in this case Alaska booked the entire flight to only frequent flyers and their companion fares.

I'm not sure that's apples to apples. The companion fare is a discounted fare, the tickets sold here were face value across the board. The comparison would be booking the entire flight to only frequent flyers.

I put in for my eight. No idea if I'll get any, but if I have extra they won't be on SeatGeek I can tell you that.

I'm in the QB Club, Sixth Man Club, Fastbreak Club, had season tickets for 10 years and donate a little extra here and there (to the indoor practice facility, for example). How do I know how many priority points I have and where I rank????
Based on your comments I'm guessing in the 300 range. You're like my twin!  (But I also do Volleyball and side out.) I wish the foundation would put your rank in your online profile, but they don't even show your current memberships so I guess I'm asking a lot!!

This is so laughable.

"I dont go to many games(when there's SRO alot to the majority of games...) but I find it unfair I can't get tickets when I want them because this is the biggest sporting event in the state since 1923 but I didnt go to the precious two playoff games"

If you did go to the playoff games, of which there was space available, then I sympathize with you. But if you havent gone to but a game or two in the last 5 years then you have no excuse. There are ALWAYS playoff tickets available.
LIKE
What about a group of five who have been to every playoff game since 2010 or every regular season home game during that time span where there was even a slight chance of a competitive game? None of us are season ticket holders and I don't think any of us could afford to be if there even were any spots available. But we have been to damn near every single important game in that stadium the last 15 years screaming our hearts out and we don't even get a shot to buy tickets at face vaule? So now our only shot at attending the biggest game in the stadiums history is lucking into knowing someone who has five extra tickets that aren't already going to close friends/family or being scalped? I don't know how else they could of done it I'm not that smart, but I know this doesn't feel good for a lot of Cat fans tonight.
Why couldn't you afford season tickets? Is it the FACT that you would have to make a small donation to support scholarships? Go cry in your beer somewhere else.

Dude if this is the case you've been coming since the new end zone was built. When it opened season tickets were $62. There were a bunch of griz fans with tickets those first couple years because it meant they paid $62 for just cat/griz and sold the rest of the tickets. Or gave them a way. Had you done that you could all 5 go in in a Bobcat club membership and had 5 season tickets together for a couple hundred a piece. I think its $38 per game plus split the $100 per person for the bobcat club membership in to your per game cost.
Exactly. I've had season tickets since 2014 in the endzone. They are a still very affordable and easy to sell if you can't, or don't want to, go to a particular game and make some money back.
The fact of the matter is the program has become popular enough that this is now feasible. Especially if you're willing to cash out your Cat Griz tickets. Many NFL teams markets are similar. For some teams, season ticket holders can attend a few games they want, sell the rest at markup and still make a profit.

Problem being then there becomes no limit to how many they would buy if given the opportunity. The teams know that's ultimately bad for the fanbase so they tightly restrict how many you're allowed to buy. Nobody should have anything resembling 30 tickets to this game handed to them by the box office. Not while so many others can't get one.

Scarcity like this should require some rethinking of the rules.
You should get close to 30 tickets to this game if you buy around 20 tickets for ALL the other games! Who do you know that is getting 30 tickets? If you know someone then they must be people that have a lot of season tickets already.

I have 18 season tickets for every game. I have the opportunity to buy 4 more for every game. Usually this will just be the big games like Gold Rush, Cat/griz etc. But every single game I can BUY 22 tickets. With this game I got to request 8 extra tickets instead of 4. I got my email today and I got those 8 tickets, all over the stadium. So I have 26 tickets for this game. All of them spoken for and I still have to tell some friends I can't help them.

You really don't think I should get 26 tickets when I pay for 18-22 of them every game of the season?! :-k
I wouldn't advocate for reducing existing holders' tickets because this is the bed they made. But when renewal season comes up, nobody should be allowed to expand their holdings to more than 8 or 10.

We're at that point.
Bed they made? In a perfect world they'd want every single seat sold as a season ticket. It's not like they were doing me favors. The season tickets were available, and I bought them. I slowly increased them through my business at the time. It's not like people were knocking down doors to buy season tickets and they couldn't because my big bully self bought them all. They sold season tickets before this season. They'll sell more before next season. Why would they ever consider not selling them to someone just because they already have some. Until they get to the point where no season tickets are available; this just wouldn't make sense.

I say if they are available, I don't care if a person has 40 season tickets if they are used every game. My 18-22 tickets are used for every single game and have been for over a decade. MSU would be moronic if I wanted 4 more season tickets that ARE available and they said no because I already have a bunch. #-o

I mostly addressed this in the other thread so I'll leave it there.

The only thing I'll add is there's a reason virtually any major program, college or professional ,that starts to run into ticket supply constraints begins to seriously limit the number of tickets any one individual can buy.

And it's not because they hate money.

We’re right on track for Monday night. Cat fans got all the tickets. Now each of us has to see how many if any we get from our REQUESTS! We may not get any. Might get a few. But either way we know the tickets are in the hands of CAT fans. Now everyone needs to do the right thing. Sell to other Cat fans at a reasonable price. Give them away to Cat fans. I don’t care if every season ticket holder gives their tix to 8 aunts, uncles or grandparents if they’re Cat fans.
This is it right here! It’s time to figure out how to distribute to Cat fans for face value. At least if I had extras that what I would do.
And ask those Cat fans to make a donation to the Bobcat collective or MSU scholarship fund in honor of the solid you did for them

Man that's the most reasonable thing I've heard today! I'd be happy to do just that, too, given the opportunity.

Sounds like brotherhood. Like it should be. (Not like the mess on Seat Geek currently...)

Seatgeek had many listings for less than half of face value for the SFA game last week

Cmon man! Don’t you understand the concept of taking care of your largest spending customers? That is what Delta and Hilton and any other business does. Let’s say your podcast picked up some commercial sponsors allowing you to expand. Then you receive an opportunity to go on a national platform, but can only take 4 sponsors. New sponsors are interested, but do you offer it your original sponsors first? Of course you do.

All I'll say is that this is a classically capitalistic society problem. And I'm here for it, because socialism sucks.

Oh, and for all the whinging, moaning, and hand -wringing going on right now about not being able to attend a FREAKING GAME, it's the epitome of a First World problem. Some of you need a serious reality check.

And for the record, I'm one of the folks looking for a ticket. Sure, it sucks, as I have missed less than 10 total home games since 2002, but I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

Just FYI…..

I was on the NCAA website for tickets
  • A ticket for the other semi-final on the 50yd line was selling for $76 which included fees
  • A ticket for our game on the 50 yd line was selling for $1347

This thread is so bonkers. I think all of us waiting on tickets knew that if this game happened, tickets were going to be hard to come by. Could MSU have done things a little better & spread out the tickets to a few more people? Probably. Would it have mattered? No.

We gave up our season tickets several years ago & none of our friend with season tickets were high enough priority to snag us any. Such is life. I'm not going to begrudge any of my fellow fans their chance to be at a historic game.

We will watch on TV and have a great time doing it.

Totally agree onceacat. That has been my point but apparently I didn't convey it very well. They could have stuck with the 4 extra tickets to season ticket holders like they have done every game forever. Many very good Cat fans STILL wouldn't have been able to get tickets. Even just 2 extra tickets for season ticket holders and 21,000 is still 21,000 and good Cat fans STILL would have been left out.

This was THEE best way to ensure all tickets went to Cat fans.

Next we'll hear complaints about the priority system and how it's not fair that someone with priority number 867 didn't get the same opportunity as that guy whose priority number is 14. 8)

Does anyone know what the assigned student sections are for this game? Usually it’s the whole 3 middle sections of the end zone, but for last year’s semifinal it was a much smaller section as they sold assigned seats for a lot of those areas.
