I understand that and agree, however if you are wanting as many seats filled by Cat fans as possible it seems that season ticket holders would qualify as pretty loyal fans.
I'm not a big money person, just a lifelong Cat fan that has been able to have endzone season tickets for the last 20 years and attend nearly every home game. All I was able to get was the 4 I normally get.

Re: Reserving tickets to semi-final game
They did have a plan to ensure non-season ticket holding Cat fans got tickets, by only allowing people who had previously attended an MSU sporting event to buy the next round of tickets, before a general release. Would it guarantee 100% of the tickets sold go to Cat fans? No, and I'm okay with that being a pretty small number but it seems they could have given at least 200-500 other Cat fans a chance. Not even a bone was thrown to non-season ticket holders.cats2506 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 16, 2025 11:39 amCelticCat wrote: ↑Tue Dec 16, 2025 11:25 amNot everyone has the time or money to attend every game or buy season tickets. One thing I was wondering about, when I saw videos of all the people that went and stood in line at the ticket office, they all had to be season ticket holders, correct? Again, I take this back to, why didn't they all just pre order, or call in Monday rather than standing in line? It almost felt like them going on person made it more likely they would be getting tickets. What if they weren't in the computer as season ticket holders, did they just take their info and say they'll get in the system behind season ticket holders? So many questions.CelticCat wrote: ↑Tue Dec 16, 2025 11:44 amThey did have a plan to ensure non-season ticket holding Cat fans got tickets, by only allowing people who had previously attended an MSU sporting event to buy the next round of tickets, before a general release. 1) the phones were completely bogged down, so a lot of people opted to drive in when they couldn't get through on the phone.
2) I know of people who waited in that line that did not get tickets granted, so being in person wasn't any guarantee for tickets

Re: Reserving tickets to semi-final game
Speaking as a long-time Cat fan who doesn’t have season tickets but has attended nearly every big game over the last decade, including both national championship games, I want to push back on the “just buy season tickets” argument.
Many of us don’t have season tickets for valid reasons like cost, family commitments, travel or location, or all of the above. As those barriers have eased, I’ve tried repeatedly over the last three to four years to get season tickets and have been locked out every time. One year I even had seats selected, only to have them disappear before checkout. It’s nearly impossible unless you leverage an existing season ticket holder to add on.
That said, I’m generally fine with how MSU handled this situation. The top priority should be keeping tickets in Cat fans’ hands, and this approach mostly does that. Eight additional tickets per account feels like a bit much. Sticking with the normal policy would have made more sense. It is what it is, and complaining about people who have had season tickets and supported the program for many years taking advantage of the system feels pretty lame.
My bigger issue is this. If season tickets are the only reliable way to guarantee access to big games, then the system needs reform. Allowing current season ticket holders to add tickets year after year before anyone else even has a chance, locks a lot of people out. It’s frustrating to hear that some accounts hold twenty or more tickets and keep adding more. There needs to be a reasonable cap per account.
Anyway, jealous of all of you who are getting to go. Give ’em hell.

Yeah I’m a season ticket holder who drove over and waited in line and I didn’t get any extra tickets. Not one. And I have been a season ticket holder since the new end zone went in. I have no hard feelings at all. I’m thrilled to see this support! Go Bobcats!!!

Well, this game is separating the haves from the have nots. I heard early "oh you're not trusting your Cat brethren enough. They'll sell for near face value to another Cat fan". And now that is changing to, "well I only have enough for my friends and family". To yet another evolution, "I deserve the extra money I get from the tickets I sell!"
As George Carlin said, "It's a big club and you ain't in it!"
But despite not being in the club, I love my Cats and I'm going to root them on one way or the other.

Anyone going this game who holds to the “I’ll cheer for the griz in the national championship since they are from Montana” type of garbage thinking should automatically have to forfeit their ticket to a real Bobcat fan.

But some will and that that is what rubs some others the wrong way. We will just have to see # of Griz fans on saturday. Maybe. I think the system has allowed many to get additional tickets each year and sell them on secondary market to fund the ones they have. Packers have a Ling wait, bit I'm guessing when someone does t renew it goes to a fan on the list, not offered first to other ticket holders.cats2506 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 16, 2025 11:39 amCelticCat wrote: ↑Tue Dec 16, 2025 11:25 amNot everyone has the time or money to attend every game or buy season tickets. Just looked at SeatGeek right now and there are only 66 listings and 168 tickets total from those listings. The lowest ticket price is $587. The number of listings honestly hasn't moved much all day and I don't think thats because some are being bought and new ones are coming on, just doesn't look like anything is being purchased. I saw a couple go at $487 earlier today (or they were removed). With that said, it seems like the strategy is working so far (at least on the scalping market). Also note that these seats could just be coming from regular season ticket holders who are also just looking to make a buck and potentially not those people who got extras.tetoncat wrote: ↑Tue Dec 16, 2025 2:01 pmBut some will and that that is what rubs some others the wrong way. I'm a Broncos season ticket holder. I get my 4. When renewal season comes up I'm not allowed to buy more. The household limit is 4. When playoffs happen, I'm not offered bonus tickets. I'm offered my 4. At a price premium well above regular season price. It's obviously been a few years, but iirc that was around a 50% price increase for the divisional round, and 100% for conference championship.tetoncat wrote: ↑Tue Dec 16, 2025 2:06 pmMaybe. I thought about asking whether they considered that arrangement adequate considering my longstanding financial support of the organization but remembered that they don't care... though they might enjoy the chuckle.

Yes, it could happen. But let's not be naive. Even without access to extra tickets there is ALWAYS a possibility that an existing season ticket holder will sell their tickets for a profit. It's happening now, and it's always happened. Long before this season, it's happened. Cat/griz tickets have always been scalped for as long as I can remember.

Re: Reserving tickets to semi-final game
Yeah, sorry I don't live on BN like some of you old heads, but I'm a 3rd generation MSU alum and have lived and breathed Bobcat football from the time I could walk. I understand cheering for kids or families you personally know. But you clearly don't understand the implications if you are cheering for the team over the hill to win the game. That goes against everything we are trying to accomplish in controlling the four corners of the state. A wise man once said, "I will promise you this, if you beat the university of Montana, and you beat them every year, EVERYTHING else will fall into place." Well, maybe this is the year that everything falls into place. But the gr*z winning the national championship certainly closes the gap in what has been a decade of dominance by us.WalkOn79 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 16, 2025 2:06 pmDude (With 2 posts all timemattycat97 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 16, 2025 1:33 pmAnyone going this game who holds to the “I’ll cheer for the griz in the national championship since they are from Montana” type of garbage thinking should automatically have to forfeit their ticket to a real Bobcat fan.) I'm going to Nashville regardless of the outcome on Saturday, and yes if it's the Griz I'll probably still be rooting for the Montana players. Not Bobby, but the players.
