Brains vs the Brawn Next Week

Post by aucat » Sat Nov 29, 2025 2:39 pm

I turned it off when Youngstown State was ahead 35-7. What a comeback and kudos to the Yale QB.

Bring the brains to Bobcat Stadium!

Can’t take the Bulldogs lightly, but every aspect of the environment in Bozeman is going to be worse for them than today.

Sorry. It’s brawny brains vs pomposity. I’ve only known a few Ivy grads in my day, but haven’t liked a one, and would take a MSU grad any day both personally and professionally. Ready to hang 50 on them.

I was wondering earlier when the last time any Bobcat sports team played an Ivy League opponent and was having trouble coming up with anything. Obviously it hasn't happened in football but you'd think one of the basketball teams would have played someone in one of those in-season tournaments at some point.

I was shocked when I heard Yale came back. But watched the last several minutes of the game. Youngstown State was completely undisciplined.

I am actually glad we aren’t playing YSU, I felt like as the game started getting away from them they were getting more and more undisciplined.

Looked up the media guides and answered my own question. Cornell came to Bozeman in the '96-'97 season in MBB. The WBB team has never played an Ivy League opponent.

I honestly don't get why people were that worried about YSU. They've shown us who they are all year. If some would have said b4 the game they would jump out to a lead and blow it, I don't think many would be surprised. Sure 28 points is crazy but it's right in line with a bunch of their games. We probably would have beat them by 20.

Yale is more disciplined and can shorten the game. It could be closer than many would think like Mercyhurst.

I thought we played Princeton a couple years ago... 🤔

Funny how the board expressed concern about playing YSU. And yet we will be facing the team that shut them down in the second half and beat them. Still, I felt the same way.

That’s just our MVFC hangover.

I see where you’re coming from, but we had direct evidence that YSU can hang with the best of the MVFC. Yale being on the same level was simply a guess

Yale, especially after this game is beat up. I think they are beat up in their O-line and receiving core after today

I’m sure Youngstown was very confident going into this game……..

Yeah and we also had evidence that they could barely beat the celler dwellers. Guess its a moot point now.

Heck what do we know about Yale at this point? Most people were saying the Ivies didn't even belong in the playoffs for 3/4 of the game.

That Harvard proved in last 2 weeks they didn't belong and it should be a 1 bid league and Yale for 1/2 today was showing it maybe didn't belong either. Give them credit they took the smack in the mouth and responded.

Don't get me wrong. Any team that comes back from 28 points down has some moxie but UNI almost did the same a week ago and nobody is afraid of them.

This game will be a horrible mismatch up front both ways. Yale does not have the ponies up front, not even close
They did a nice job on Brungard in the second half but he was the entirety of the offense, so once he started flailing they got some traction.

One thing to note: Yale was without their 3rd and 4th best players today, both of whom will probably be back for our game.

Ezekiel Larry is an NFL prospect and likely all-American who had 10.5 sacks in 10 games but got a concussion in the Harvard game and missed the Youngstown State contest. I'd expect him to be back.

Even more likely to be back is Nico Brown, Yale's top receiver who was a first team all-Ivy selection with almost 1000 receiving yards and ten TDs in 10 games. He missed this week with an illness.

I still think we will handle them fairly easily but they have a few more real players than we saw today
