Last year's Graduates Pro Plans

Post by Travelingcat » Fri Nov 28, 2025 7:24 pm

Wondering whether anyone closer to the program can say what last year's graduates are doing as far as their future football plans.

Was surprised and disappointed that Grebe and Wehr didn't latch onto a practice squad-- understand that they were less than ideal size-wise, but thought their testing numbers, on-field performance and our team success would have given them a shot. Wehr acquitted himself well at the Shrine bowl, according to observers. And even Ortt put up some strong testing numbers. Are these guys giving the CFL or UFL a try, or still looking at the NFL-- or ending their careers?

Tommy we will have to see. Hopefully the surgeries will help him regain his range of motion and at the very least I'd think the CFL would love his skills.

Would love any updates.

To add on to this, does anyone know the process for getting picked up by, or a tryout for, the CFL and UFL? I don't know if they just don't enough or guys have the 'NFL or bust' mentality or if the CFL is just hard to break into as an American but it seems like there should be more MSU (and top end BSC) guys in these leagues.

Eastwood, did not make it. Ball out! Recovered, by Montana State!! The Bobcats hold!!! The Bobcats hold!!!

Not a lot of CFL roster spots available since teams are required to have at least half Canadian players and therefore can only have a maximum of 19 American players on their rosters. With the UFL there just aren't many teams, I'm quite shocked that league is still even going since St. Louis seems to be the only successful franchise attendance-wise.

Alex Singleton had an easier time getting into the CFL since his mother is a Canadian and that qualified him. Travis Lulay who had tremendous success there, being a decorated QB with a skill set that matched the CFL field/game probably had an easier entry. Other positions might be much more difficult. It’s a very legit league, and if a player wants to continue playing and make a decent salary, it’s a good option. I watched a lot of CFL games when Travis was playing for the BC Lions in Vancouver and really started to enjoy the game. It doesn’t, however, really lend itself to a power running game which is my favorite to watch. Highly pass-oriented with QB runs so Lulay (and Prukop) fit right in.

Pretty sure Wehr has hung it up. I saw him a couple weeks ago and he's visibly slimmer, losing that excess Oline weight.

Wow, that's tough re: Wehr. This was a guy who got a serious look and who people thought was a real prospect. He was a Shrine bowl selection-- almost half of those guys get drafted and most of the rest get UDFA shots. He may have just decided he'd had enough and wanted to move on. Best of luck to him with whatever he does in the future.
