Funny, I've never really considered Tommy to have a lot of wiggle. Incredible acceleration and great strength at the tackle point, but not really a guy who makes you miss in a phone booth imo. Good thing I'm not a scout!VimSince03 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 07, 2025 11:08 amI guess I'm confused on the lack of lateral agility here. Tommy was not only known for his straight-line speed but also being tough to tackle in a phone booth. Like are we just not going to discuss the Idaho playoff game last year? Was that not elite lateral agility?TomCat88 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 07, 2025 9:18 amWhat I was told:
“His lack of lateral ability makes more sense now. He runs so perfectly upright like a sprinter and on his toes. But now that I think about it, he runs just like a dude with crazy tight hips. Actually really interesting because there’s this narrative that if he would’ve played defense, he would’ve been a higher draft pick and would’ve been a better NFL pick. But if he has hip deficiencies, he would’ve never ever been able to play safety at any level”
I do understand it being even more different at the NFL as a wide receiver. The player who actually has always struggled with lateral agility and tight hips is Troy Andersen who always ran upright and on his toes.

Re: Tommy to the Saints
Seeing how horrible both the Saints and Raiders are doing this year maybe it's a blessing in disguise that Tommy got released. I mean I'm still hoping he gets an NFL shot, but the Raiders are in free fall, and maybe the Saints are just working through alot of new wrinkles, but yikes. Hoping he's rehabbing well and feeling better. Does anyone know if he was at the game Saturday?

His agent mentioned that a few teams have contacted him about Tommy so hopefully he will get a few tryouts once he heals and get to pick the best option for him. Surgery number 2 is on the 8th of December.nanacat wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 5:56 pmSeeing how horrible both the Saints and Raiders are doing this year maybe it's a blessing in disguise that Tommy got released. It is a procedure on both hips. One is done. The other is Dec 8. I understand that he was at the UC Davis game and not on crutches!nanacat wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 7:15 pmOh he has to have a second surgery? Bummer. Oh wow! That's cool. Crazy that he would have that major of surgery at his age, but if it helps and he can maintain good movement and health, good for him! It's amazing what can be done these days.Cataholic wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 10:01 pmIt is a procedure on both hips. One is done. The other is Dec 8. Re: Tommy to the Saints
The no crutches part is true. I happened to cross paths with him a few hours before the game while he was heading into the stadium. Was walking a little gingerly, but no assistance.Cataholic wrote: ↑Mon Nov 24, 2025 10:01 pmIt is a procedure on both hips. One is done. The other is Dec 8. I have no idea what his surgery was, but I got a new hip in July and was walking 2 weeks later. If you have surgery hips are usually pretty easy recovery.

Total hips yes. Labral tears no…. I’m assuming that is what he is dealing with and maybe an impingement. That’s 12 weeks of hell.
