(Usually, Montana State shoots these for me but I think the film guys are in Boulder for hoops, so this is the zoom. Sound is good, video is a big grainy, sorry!)

When I asked him about what he learned from Jay Hill, and he said:

"Just attention to detail,” WSU defensive coordinator Joe Dale, who worked with Hill from 2018-2022, said of the qualities he passed on. “Everything matters. The little things become big things if you don’t focus on them. Just how to prepare the right way week in and week out regardless of the opponent. You earn the right to be proud and confident and perform well with your work throughout the week. Those are a few of the things I’ve carried over along the way.

“It’s different now. I have the voice in that defensive staff room. Not having that defensive presence and having a more offensive minded coach. It gives us our freedom and lets us do our thing. Let’s us put together a great game plan to go out and execute. Just not having that constant voice and having that defensive mind in coach Hill, there is the biggest difference.”

I thought that pretty much summed it up...
If he's the voice in the room, I hope he shows more energy than in your interview. I also can see why he didn't get the head coach job the way he comes across.
He wasn't the candidate or the DC. Grant Duft, who's now Cody Hawkins' DC at Idaho State, was the heir apparent. He was Hill's right-hand man for 9 years. Dale coached the secondary, which was always elite to best in the country good during Hill's time, including having one of the only Defensive MVP DBs in league history in Taron Johnson. Weber should've hired Duft. Mental is the strangest hire, not close, in the history of the conference and it's directly reflected by the fact that while not the worst team in the conference, Weber is the team that lacks the most identity and is the most irrelevant in the conference.
Portland State: "hold my beer"...

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

Portland State is WAY more relevant than Weber…

Being dead set, dead last and having definitive reasons that everybody can see as to why… playing in a high school stadium…Plus having a cult hero like Bruce Barnum as your head coach… And having John Canzano tell your story on statewide radio frequently… And having a connection to Phil Knight as an alum all is more relevant then having arguably the nicest facilities outside of the state of Montana in the entire league and still being completely un competitive in football and last place in basketball…

When you're fighting with PSU over who is less relevant you know you've fallen on hard times. If it wasn't for a goofy head coach nobody in Oregon would even know PSU had a football team.

Eastwood, did not make it. Ball out! Recovered, by Montana State!! The Bobcats hold!!! The Bobcats hold!!!

I was kinda hoping Portland State would just go 0-12 and after their final loss, would just announce they were dropping football. Just the ultimate "nobody supports us" mic drop. But then they had to go beat Cal Poly!

Is he always that bad of an interview? It felt like he wanted to be anywhere else. He had no enthusiasm.
I just listened to this. This might be the worst coach interview I’ve seen, engagement/energy wise. That was rough.

Funny part is that.....I asked for Dale because I thought Mickey Mental was even worse last week....

Not sure why, but our video seems to be glitchy. SO if you would rather not watch two ugly guys when the voices don't line up, you can LISTEN here

Ty is very hard to hear, anyway to turn up the gain on him?
Levels on my audition file are perfect -6 DB but I turned them up and re uploaded. Please let me know if that makes it better!
I was listening on some really ****** laptop speakers so it could be that, but i hear you perfectly. It's much clearer on my headset, but thank you for accommodating a deaf old man lol.
The wife thought I needed hearing aids, my hearing is sort of ok, so I have Bluetooth hearing aids and it is really nice.
