In somewhat of a surprise, Sam Herder of Hero sports dropped SDSU to #6 and moved up his #3-#5 (Gris, Cats and Texans) as well as UND. This pretty much fits the scenario I think is best for Cats to get #2. Don't think the committee will be this brash on Nov 5th with the second ranking of Top 10. SDSU has a tough last three games but next week they play Indiana State. Overall, the voters will be much kinder to SDSU and I think we will see NDSU, Tarleton State, Gris, SDSU, Cats, Davis and UND in the poll. Still tons of football left and we need SDSU to drop the game to UND at the end of the season AFTER UND loses to the Bizon.
Are you assuming that und will lose to NDSU or saying that an NDSU win over UND is good for us? Either way can’t root for NDSU, also would be nice to see they are mortal
UND will lose to the Bison. NDSU will not lose to anyone. However, it would be REALLY BAD if UND beat both NDSU and SDSU as UND would be 10-2 (with FBS loss) and NDSU would be 11-1. UND would get the second seed if Tarleton loses and the 3rd seed if Tarleton wins out (or maybe even the #1 seed and Bizon get #2). There would be no path to the #2 seed and we might have to settle for the #4 seed and a trip to NDSU/UND. However, for what its worth, I am in the same camp as Herder and McKinnell and Rosario - it is NDSU and everyone else vying for second place. Sure something odd could happen but odds are against it. NDSU is the most dominant team and it is not even close.
They probably will…. But also ****** happens. Hate to see another NDSU championship that isn’t even close….

I get it, but... LAME. Griz play a soooft schedule
Cats play a pretty soft schedule, too. Good lord … Mercyhurst, San Diego, etc. SDSU is weak (see their performance vs. Murray State, Drake, and Youngstown). The national rankings reflect this. I know the Cats are hoping for an upset win in Missoula, but I don’t see that happening.
Griz should probably be favorites in Missoula. Cats seem to be playing all around better football as they have been avoiding shootouts with lesser foes. I get that you want to point at how ‘weak’ our schedule has been, however, Cats scheduling from here on out, aside from Weber, will be much more difficult than, Weber, EWU, and Portland. That may be the easiest three games to have in all of FCS.
I think you’re probably right. I don’t know what the Griz are supposed to do about that, except run the table and maybe apologize for playing Weber, EWU, and Portland...
And sacred heart and Indiana state and a D2 school.
Yes. I’m just saying both teams played their share of cream puffs. And if the Griz win the final regular season game, I’m sure NDSU and Tarleton will say the Griz played cream puffs all season long.
Ya and you included South Dakota State in your list of cream puffs

It’s objectively a fact that MSU has a stronger strength of schedule than um yet you try to argue otherwise. This is why it’s hard to take you seriously.

Nah, SDSU is not one of the cream puffs. But neither is UND. I’m just saying it’s not like the Cats took Goliath to overtime in the SDSU game. It’s not “objectively a fact” that MSU has a stronger strength of schedule, but I won’t challenge your subjective opinion that they do. You’re entitled to it. It’s why they play the games. You never know until the final whistle.

@OldGriz be subjective. Give us the Griz hard games. I would say UND hard, SAC on road mid level, Poly mid to low since at home. Rest not good teams. CATS UO, SDSU POLY and NAU on road mid, the rest not good although EWU and ISU offense can score.

I probably don’t disagree much with you on the Griz games. For Cat games, I wouldn’t count UO because that was nothing more than a money game. SDSU would be the hard game, but it will be interesting to see if SDSU gets past UND on Nov. 22.

sdsu depends on if or when they get the QB back.

MSU depends on the cats winning out and getting better across the OL and ST..... and staying healthy.

Tarleton is their own worst enemy and have to blow out every remaining gain to impress the committee on selection sunday.

and gris seem to be getting the breaks.

You must have been a terrible attorney. Weren’t you the guy saying the “experts” know best and the polls are a great indicator of that? Now, despite all the “experts” having MSU with one of the toughest SOS in the country, you don’t think that should apply?

Technically, that makes him a better attorney. No moral compass and the ability to argue both ways.

While registering my vehicles the assessor stated "I have had both Cat and Griz students and alums work for me and the Griz end up working under the direction of the Cats."

griz fans can argue all they want about how hard their schedule is this year. It isn't. Scheduling a DII team instantly negates any argument. There are not enough Os in soooft.

griz fans; keeping it classy and gracious in winning since ... well, never.

NAU on the road in the dome is harder than any game the Griz have played, possibly excepting UND at home. You have no comp for SDSU at full strength. Poly on the road for the Cats is the comp to sac for um on the road. Plus we have Davis coming up. And play in Missoula. Cats schedule in total is way harder than the griz. It's not close.

Poly on the road after they had 2 weeks to prepare for us is probably the UND comp. North Dakota is has one of the worst home vs road differentials. They are a good team but almost always find a way to lose on the road if the opponent isn't a bottom feeder.

Here's a scenario to ponder...............
  • We win out......beat the gris by 14 points on the road but only beat UC Davis by 7 at home.
  • SDSU loses one of their remaining games
  • Tarleton wins out
  • NDSU wins out.
  • UC Davis only remaining lose to the CATS.......which makes them 9-2-1...... (remember they had a 'no contest' with Mercer at the start of the season). Their 2 loses would be @ Washington Huskies and @ the CATS. Which would give them 1 FBS loss, 1 road FCS loss and 9 FCS wins.
  • The gris would be 11-1 with 10 FCS wins and 1 FCS loss at home.
*In this scenario, would UC Davis jump the gris?..........I think probably not but maybe. That 'no contest' (or whatever they called it vs Mercer) could come back to haunt them. But so could the gris scheduling a DII team.
*Do we jump SDSU......I think so
*Would we be #3?.......likely.

Remind me who beat a top 20 team on the road.

The UND game will look really good if they beat one or other of DSUs. If not and NAU keeps winning they could have similar ranks.

The Cats will finish the season with 3, maybe 4, losses. NDSU fans will say undefeated Montana didn’t play anybody all year. The playoffs will be fun. I just hope the Cats get an invite.

More proof that you are nothing more than a pathetic troll. You supposedly despise such behavior, but you are one of the worst. Like I said, share such wonderful insight with your clientele, but I couldn’t imagine hiring such a tool. What is your specialty? Defense of fraud?
