Re: Week 9 (Big Sky week 5)
Why do teams crap themselves when playing the Griz. Hold on KO return, fall down on fake punt, fumble punt, give up fake punt. They cost selves 7, gave Griz great field position that lead to 14, and another 7 after the fake conversion. 4 plays if they make turns game to 42 28 Sac.

Looking at the Box Score it looks like Pam St should have destroyed the pandas. UNTIL you get to the stat line about penalties. bUMs had one for 5yds and Pam had 10 for 80. Undisciplined football cost them the game.

The Griz are good!
I just think the Cats are better where it matters most.
Btw, if you really want to play the comparison game, check out the Idaho State game. It might be enlightening for you.
Or, if you’d rather, we could talk about how the only other time the Sac State QB threw for more than 200 yards was against Central Arkansas, who is terrible. Y’all’s defense is pretty pretty bad!

And I think the other stat to consider is how many points the Cats allow per game. Despite only scoring 17 on Mercyhurst, they shut them out, and somehow everyone in griz land who uses that game as their measuring stick forgets that part. The griz defense is porous to say the least. Cats defense is very, very good.

It’s strange that UM and MSU have only one common opponent so far this season. They’ll have four by the time Cat-Griz gets here. UM’s win over No. Dakota gets more impressive as the season goes along. UND looks better every week. MSU’s loss to SDSU hasn’t been enhanced as SDSU seems to have plateaued.nanacat wrote: ↑Sat Oct 25, 2025 7:53 amGood post.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Sat Oct 25, 2025 7:45 amThe Griz are good!

Until they start giving up every single third and fourth down attempt, that Bobcat coached team will not have any serious challengers.

It amazes me that the Cats seem to be flying under the radar and not getting near the attention as the Dakotas, Tarleton and griz. Puts a nice little chip on our shoulder. We took the #2 team to double overtime in week 2, with a reshuffled OL. We are NOT the same team as we were in week 2. It’s not so much that we are winning it’s how we are winning and the talking heads don’t acknowledge this. We are the deepest I have EVER seen across the board. We are peaking at the right time. Vigen has all the pieces and this team is absolutely poised for a deep, deep playoff run. Stay the course and keep rolling! Go Cats!

Gotta be some worry over in griz land about that defense. It's not good.

Re: Week 9 (Big Sky week 5)
I think everyone is more waiting with baited breath on the Cats. I think it’ll take until the Davis game for an opportunity to change that. The anemic offensive performances early in the season set the tone, and that’s a tough impression to get rid of even though they are significantly better on offense than they were during the non-conference season. New QB, new coordinator, etc. It took some time. If they handily beat Davis (assuming Davis keeps on winning), that’ll open some eyes.catapult wrote: ↑Sat Oct 25, 2025 9:55 amIt amazes me that the Cats seem to be flying under the radar and not getting near the attention as the Dakotas, Tarleton and griz. Re: Week 9 (Big Sky week 5)
I agree. However, UND did everything they could to lose that game....and were successful in doing so. IF they had just an average FG kicker they would have won that game. Neither team played well. Another win that hasn't lasted the 'test of time' is the gris's Idaho win (they r now 0-3 in BSC & 2-5 overall).TomCat88 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 25, 2025 9:06 amIt’s strange that UM and MSU have only one common opponent so far this season. As far as SDSU@MSU.....certainly you could say neither offense played well. Both defenses had a good day, but maybe that was because neither offense seemed to be 'hitting on all/most cylinders'.
IF we win out, we'll be a top 4 team at worst and depending on how the rest of the field does (i.e. NDSU@SDSU, NDSU@UND, SDSU@UND, MSU@um, Tarleton) , we could possibly get to 2nd.
Regarding last nights game, Sac's QB is not even an average passer. The reason he had good stats is because he had tons of time and his receivers for the most part were so open I could have completed the pass, once he got the least bit of pressure he was terrible. I will say this, the gris make very good half time adjustments. I will also say, that with our run defense (specifically our front 4), I wouldn't focus on Gillman but rather Wortham....he's the 'real deal'.
The gris have the BSC powerhouses

Re: Week 9 (Big Sky week 5)
The Cats are definitely improving. I like them to cover (-23.5?) at SLO. That week #2 opponent (SDSU) is not the program they used to be (see soft performances vs. Youngstown, Drake & Murray State). That probably has a little bit to do with the order of ranking.catapult wrote: ↑Sat Oct 25, 2025 9:55 amIt amazes me that the Cats seem to be flying under the radar and not getting near the attention as the Dakotas, Tarleton and griz. Vigen does not want his team to peak too early. Everyone knows we are better as the year goes along and we hit our stride.
I just don't get all of this poll comparison BS. It is the results on the field that count once the regular season is complete.

While registering my vehicles the assessor stated "I have had both Cat and Griz students and alums work for me and the Griz end up working under the direction of the Cats."

Illinois St and YSU are off to slow starts against weak opponents. USD leads ISU 3-0 late first; YSU tied 7-7 with Murray St.

I just have to laugh when I read all these posts about whether MSU is ranked #4 or #5 in October. I can't possibly imagine anything more pointless to worry about when we all know that Griz fans think they're better, Bobcat fans think we're better, and it will all be decided on the field a month from now.

Re: Week 9 (Big Sky week 5)
I thing the Griz D needs a lot of work. They really need their shut down corner back. But to be fair here, Sac St was the #1 rushing offense in the conference and the Griz game planned to stop the run, which they did pretty well. That team was averaging about 300 yards rushing last 4-5 games and a Griz held them to 140. They had to pass with no run game so they chalked up some passing numbers for sure.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Sat Oct 25, 2025 7:45 amThe Griz are good!

Tuning into the UCD/UNCo game and looking at the opposite side of the field, I think we have more people at our house for Christmas or Thanksgiving.
Bears just missed a 41 yard fog.
Looks like Pinnick is injured, another frosh starting.

Yeah, I was thinking about going down there for the game next weekend. I thought their fans might be more into their team, since they’ve been performing a lot better, and I may need to purchase tickets ahead of time instead of at the gate, but I guess not.
