@Colter_Nuanez Will you be having Ty Gregorak on again sometime? Haven't heard from him on Big Sky Breakdown in a minute

Yes! Hoping for next week!

Love having Ty on and it’s been so great to have him weekly for years. This year we decided to scale it back to once a month because he’s just so dang busy. He does TV, has a more than full time day job with Stryker, has two kids that are each in multiple fall sports and oh by the way, his lovely wife runs the Big Sky volleyball club, which has like 10 million teams in it… I don’t know how they do it but they are an impressive family!

The podcast with Schmidt was great this week. Tell him to stop talking about UM's Montana recruiting, thanks.

It makes me chuckle that his bit ripped on the Cats his first episode and got this place all stirred up....and every single episode since then has pretty much only been criticizing and ripping the Griz

I tried telling the people that nobody hated on UM last year more than Andrew! It was very funny.

Over their last 6 games of 2024 MSU allowed 25 plays over 20 yards, 14 over 30 yards, 9 over 40 and 5 of 55 or more.

In 7 games this season they've allowed 21 plays over 20 yards, 8 plays over 30 yards, 3 over 40 and 1 over 55.

MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

That’s interesting. But not really apples to apples. The last six in 2024:

NDSU
South Dakota
Idaho
Quarterfinal game. Who did the Cats play?
gris
Davis

2025:
Oregon
SDSU
San Diego
Mercyhurst
Eastern
NAU
Idaho State

2024: all playoff teams
2025: two fcs playoff teams and an FBS playoff team.

We’ll see how this defense compares soon enough. My only point is I don’t think it’s apples to apples. But I do think this defense is better.

This is after first 5:
Over their last 6 games of 2024 @MSUBobcats_FB allowed 25 plays over 20 yards, 14 over 30 yards, 9 over 40 and five of 55 or more.
In 5 games this season they've allowed just 13 plays over 20 yards, 5 plays over 30 yards, 1 over 40 and none over 55.

It’s hard to make it exact. Lots of variables (sos, location, weather, etc). All stats are that way. I’ve always thought one of the main stats (not kept) for gauging how good a defense is, is the number of big plays that they allow.

I think ypp, ypc, and pass efficiency and this are the best stats. Colter has been trying to collect plays where the quarterback is made uncomfortable. That’s a more meaningful star than sacks.

I know! It's all because we have nails photographers who live in Bozeman (Jason, Ben) and then Blake's son is working for MSU athletics now helping with stats. So from a business standpoint, it's just easiest to have those guys hold down the fort there! But we are going to Bozeman twice in the next month together :)

Are you using the first five games of this season, omitting ISU, in the second comparison? I’m assuming so because Idaho state had the 69 yard touchdown pass to Nunnally last weekend.

I didn’t listen to his first recording that got everybody fired up, but I agreed with everything he said on the last one. From the coaches saying we don’t need to recruit, to the football program using “RTD”, to the university and its enrollment. It’s fine, I’m fine. Everything is fine.

Wish he would stop using "Bozeman" instead of Montana State or MSU. I know he's from here but it's derogatory, Like "Bozeman State" :x

Two different 2025 sets there. One 5 and one 7 vs last six 2024. 7 has ISU and Nau.
