McGee really didn't like to run. I can remember quite a few plays where he had wide open runs and would just keep scrambling.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Tue Oct 14, 2025 2:32 pmLamson reminds me of how I think McGhee would do in this offense.

I'm a big fan of Lamson. Is he the best QB I've seen in my 23 years as a die-hard Cat fan? No, but he's won me over with his toughness and his competitiveness.
And frankly it's a breath of fresh air having a QB who can sling it around pretty well (this isn't a knock on Tommy, Troy, Murray, don't come at me). Dude just looks like a QB back there.

How do you think he compares to Chambers?CelticCat wrote: ↑Wed Oct 15, 2025 10:18 amI'm a big fan of Lamson. Is he the best QB I've seen in my 23 years as a die-hard Cat fan? No, but he's won me over with his toughness and his competitiveness.

I'd say they're pretty comparable except Chambers was a better runner than Lamson. I cringe every time i see Lamson on a QB draw or QB power, but he does do better on the read options rather than the straight up keepers.technoCat wrote: ↑Wed Oct 15, 2025 10:29 amHow do you think he compares to Chambers?CelticCat wrote: ↑Wed Oct 15, 2025 10:18 amI'm a big fan of Lamson. They both sling the ball around really well and can zip it in there if need be, and Lamson made a couple of next level throws last Saturday and hopefully he keeps getting better, he has so far.

Re: Justin Lamson Transfers in
That's a good question! I think Lamson has the about the same arm talent as Chambers but Chambers was more of a gunslinger who didn't mind throwing into double coverage. Chambers was accurate on deep balls but he struggled on just about anything else, his best completion percentage was in 2022 at 61.4%. Lamson is extremely accurate on short to even deep-medium but he still can't quite find his groove on go routes. But Lamson is 73.5% this year and I think the most impressive thing he does is hit guys in stride - the touchdown to Woods was a perfect example of that. All of his slants are exactly in front of the receiver so they can grab it and keep running full speed. Not only that but even his RB screen throws typically lead the RB forward instead of having to stop and wait for it, a small but very important thing that is harder to do that it looks.technoCat wrote: ↑Wed Oct 15, 2025 10:29 amHow do you think he compares to Chambers?CelticCat wrote: ↑Wed Oct 15, 2025 10:18 amI'm a big fan of Lamson. I wish he'd push the ball downfield a bit more but it's a big leap forward for anyone since Prukop. Mellott had a higher average but his legs and the potent running game really opened up some wide open plays - how many times did we see Rohan Jones wide open for a 40 yard TD?

Lamson is far and away a better passing QB than Chambers. Chambers is by far a better rusher.

I'm just hoping the Cats can keep him for another year.

Seems like with multiple schools attended anda degree he went back to someone he had been comfortable with inthe initial recruiting process. Wouldn't think he would give that up for an unknown role somewhere else.

I think he’ll stick around and ride out his success here. He seems fairly squared away and just wants to win. What I am more interested in is, having a true quarterback, can distribute the ball and manage the game, (not a knock on any prior Cat quarterbacks) will change our recruiting at other skill positions?

Boy you just can't compliment Lamson without someone saying "oh so you hate Tommy". Haha I was obviously kidding around. Lamson is a better thrower than Tommy. Tommy was a better runner. Both have excellent skill sets. Lamson is really coming into his own, throw the ball away a couple more time and continue the trajectory on making the right reads with the rpo and he is going to be absolutely fantastic. I think we are lucky to have him. Also love his passion and ferocity.CelticCat wrote: ↑Wed Oct 15, 2025 1:59 pmBoy you just can't compliment Lamson without someone saying "oh so you hate Tommy". I took it as sarcasm but you never know around here. The number of people that think Troy was an all time great QB would probably fit in a car and have seats left over (and I think he's the greatest Bobcat player of all time).CelticCat wrote: ↑Wed Oct 15, 2025 1:59 pmBoy you just can't compliment Lamson without someone saying "oh so you hate Tommy". Haha fair enough, my apologies. There have been some salty posters about it this year so I guess I was a little sensitive, my bad.BigBruceBaker wrote: ↑Wed Oct 15, 2025 2:05 pmHaha I was obviously kidding around.
