Re: Stadium Expansion News For East Side?
So I would imagine IF we get a homecoming announcement on this, it will be a part of the overall master plan update reveal?
It’d be cool to get something we did 7-8 years ago with the 20 year master plan. Show what the plans are for the next 15-20 years, the priorities, the general phases that they’d like to complete them in, with the crown jewel being this massive stadium renovation that starts asap.
I can’t imagine them announcing a huge project like this without also acknowledging the master plan update.
All I know is that I’ll be really bummed if this all gained a bunch of traction again on here amongst the fans, only for us to not hear anything about it for another 6+ months. Hope you guys in the know are right and we get some official word and some details on this soon.

Leon has been saying for months that there will be an update to the master plan announced soon. Whether they announce financing with the master plan update, that isn't clear....yet.Catsrgrood wrote: ↑Tue Sep 16, 2025 1:30 pmSo I would imagine IF we get a homecoming announcement on this, it will be a part of the overall master plan update reveal?

I wouldn't put much stock into master plans though since we know they can and will be changed (just look at the past two stadium plans), unless, of course, they announce financing at the same time.

That’s exactly my point, it’s been longer than that, more like 9-10 months since the rumor first started.coloradocat wrote: ↑Tue Sep 16, 2025 1:34 pmI think it's been at least 6 months since the mythical "big gift" rumor started.Catsrgrood wrote: ↑Tue Sep 16, 2025 1:30 pmSo I would imagine IF we get a homecoming announcement on this, it will be a part of the overall master plan update reveal?

For sure, I don’t think anyone should take those master plans at 100% face value, things will absolutely change over time.AFCAT wrote: ↑Tue Sep 16, 2025 1:36 pmLeon has been saying for months that there will be an update to the master plan announced soon. But the general outline of the first one did come to fruition. The first thing they wanted to build was a BAC in the north end zone. That is done. Looks a little different than that video, but it happened.
The second thing was the renovations to the fieldhouse from the vacated football offices. That happened too.
Then #3 was an indoor facility. It looks different and is in a different place, but it was built.
And that is where we’re at 7 years later.
If they have the funds for the stadium renovation in place, I would imagine the artist rendering for that part would be very close to what the final project will actually be.
Then I’m all for being able to visually see what the plans are for the next 10,15, so years after that, even if that will likely change over time.
That can really help the general public get excited about it too, actually being able to see the long term vision, even if it slightly changes as time goes by.

Re: Stadium Expansion News For East Side?
Question: did they build the IPF in its final location because of the gym roof collapse and subsequent installation of the bubbles? So if that storm wouldn't have happened we likely would have the IPF where it was originally planned?Catsrgrood wrote: ↑Tue Sep 16, 2025 1:57 pmFor sure, I don’t think anyone should take those master plans at 100% face value, things will absolutely change over time.AFCAT wrote: ↑Tue Sep 16, 2025 1:36 pmLeon has been saying for months that there will be an update to the master plan announced soon. I could be wrong but I thought it was more to make it a dual purpose building and benefit track and field. Keep it closer to both facilities.coloradocat wrote: ↑Tue Sep 16, 2025 2:05 pmQuestion: did they build the IPF in its final location because of the gym roof collapse and subsequent installation of the bubbles? Re: Stadium Expansion News For East Side?
The winning is just a part of it. This has been discussed by Bizun fans on the FCS forum I frequent. I believe another issue they mentioned is not being able to tailgate at halftime anymore (I know re-entry is not allowed, but I think that's a recent development). The biggest issue is, with the increased demand during the beginning of the dynasty, NDSU started to jack prices up to levels that started suppressing the demand. MSU's most expensive season ticket is $1,215 and the most expensive non-club seat is $725 (https://msubobcats.com/sports/2015/4/3/FB_0403154323). The Bizuns' most expensive season ticket costs a MASSIVE $3,062. To sit in the first 20 rows (A-T) between the 25 yard lines, the required contribution to Team Makers dues almost double the total cost for our section 104 (https://gobison.com/documents/2021/5/17 ... f?id=21308). Put their season ticket prices on similar sections of Bobcat Stadium and I don't think expansion would be talked about.coloradocat wrote: ↑Mon Sep 15, 2025 5:25 pmThey're just bored with winning. We've got a ways to go before we reach that point.damnyoutuesday wrote: ↑Mon Sep 15, 2025 4:15 pmI do want to pump the brakes on an expansion that big because I think it would come back to bite us. Even NDSU, the god emperor of FCS, is having trouble selling out the FargoDome nowMSU01 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 15, 2025 4:08 pmI agree that this seems like the sweet spot for selling out every game but they could easily sell 30k tickets for Gold Rush, Cat/Griz, and probably also Homecoming. I hope they go as big as they can afford to go even if it means empty sections in the upper deck when Mercyhurst or Portland State comes to town.damnyoutuesday wrote: ↑Mon Sep 15, 2025 4:01 pmWith no evidence, I feel like 22-25k permanent seats is the sweet spot. Plus however many SROs they can fit
That said, because expanding the FargoDome is an impossibility, instead of working on the supply side of the economics, NDSU is increasing prices to reduce demand in an attempt to reach equilibrium.

Re: Stadium Expansion News For East Side?
When we did the endzone, those of us that already had endzone seats got first pick of seats. I would imagine that they would do the same for existing season ticket holders.Catbacker_1 wrote: ↑Mon Sep 15, 2025 10:17 pmI have mixed feelings about replacing the east side stands. Do I want to see a larger capacity that matches the south end zone, absolutely. What I fear is that my current seats that I’ve had since the student section was moved will become club seating similar to the gold seats on the west end and they jack up the prices. I tell everyone I will never give them up 50 yard line 20 rows up best seats in the house if you ask me. I’m willing to spend the money but if MSU takes them from me and decides to allocate them for corporate sponsorship or box owners because they can charge more for them I’ll be done supporting the team financially. I’m not saying any of this will happen but I wouldn’t put it past the university to do so to maximize profits.

Re: Stadium Expansion News For East Side?
I don't think so. The original IPF location wasn't really close to the current bubbles. Remember, the IPF changed location twice. The indoor was originally planned to be on Dyche Field with a much larger football and track facility that included fan seating. Reality (not enough money) set in and the Cats decided to go with a 100 yard football only field in a PVC fabric covered and metal framed building that ran different to its current location. That design was even advertised as the final version. Then, the athletic department came into a cash donation infusion that made their dream of a track and football indoor complex a reality. The final design was smaller than the original vision but was still an amazing accomplishment.coloradocat wrote: ↑Tue Sep 16, 2025 2:05 pmQuestion: did they build the IPF in its final location because of the gym roof collapse and subsequent installation of the bubbles? This was even advertised as the FINAL version, then those big checks came in and the master plan changed again very quickly.

I think there's good reason to believe there will be some sort of grand plan announcement this year because the new president is going to want a spectacle to make people like him right out of the gate. Especially if he wants to try to carry on Waded's legacy because she had a similar announcement early in her tenure to really set the tone for aggressive expansion.Catsrgrood wrote: ↑Tue Sep 16, 2025 1:50 pmThat’s exactly my point, it’s been longer than that, more like 9-10 months since the rumor first started.coloradocat wrote: ↑Tue Sep 16, 2025 1:34 pmI think it's been at least 6 months since the mythical "big gift" rumor started.Catsrgrood wrote: ↑Tue Sep 16, 2025 1:30 pmSo I would imagine IF we get a homecoming announcement on this, it will be a part of the overall master plan update reveal?

I know the University is updating their long term Master Plan from 15 years ago as well. So, I wonder if both will be released at the same time.
