If someone doesn't do a Good-Bad-Ugly by Sunday night every week, I going to embarrass myself like this. Please help me.
Happy:
Lamson's accuracy. I don't care who you're playing 26- of 29 is
Three drives post-INT. Pure perfection. 85 yards in 1:15; opening drive of 2nd half; third one with Jones 25-yard run, then best pass of the day from Lamson to Taco in the bucket, then two Davis bursts to house.
Defense didn't allow SD past MSU 42 until backups started coming in.
Davis getting 10 ypc.
Special teams had no miscues.

(of course this should be the case every game).
Sad: first half run game (see Vigen's comments)
Unattractive: No "the good, the bad and the ugly" thread.

MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Good: the defense continues to shine, especially the run D. SD had negative rushing yards at the half thanks to the Dowler sack.
Taco should have a fantastic year in conference play.
Bad: the O line is still searching for some continuity, especially in the running game.
Ugly: decades of game attendance and I still have not won the 50 50.

No one can question Lamson's accuracy but I might put his shot selection(or maybe the playcall itself) in bad because he had a couple WIDE open receivers for big shots and he just doesn't seem to see them or anticipate it pre-snap. That throw to Taco was into triple coverage and King had half a field to himself on the other side. Hopefully a bit of film study will clean that up.

To add:
The Good = Julius Davis, his vision is unparalleled. Lamson had a good game zipping the ball around.
The Bad = First half blocking, it got better but the first half was bad.
The Ugly = Didn't really have anything super ugly stand out, nor should we have had with the opponent we faced.

The pass blocking was more than fine in the first half.

Yes, I noticed that as well and asked Taco to go through that play and he pointed out that King was open. So, they probably talked about that right after the play.
The pass, however, was one of if not the best I’ve seen Lamson throw and Taco liked it as well.
I think it worked out well because the Bobcats were in a rhythm and they sustained that the next two plays. Either way is good but they strung a bunch of good plays together for three straight drives before turning it over to the backups.

Happy: I have to say now that we finally saw a lot of it in action, I like the passing scheme. A deep threat (Long) will take it even further. Love that we’re using the MOF. As there’s more tape on it, defenses will respect it more and running will become easier.

Strange how someone could have other responsibilities and obligations that prevent them from sitting on their butt all weekend long watch fcs football. Must be a nice luxury to have to be singularly focused on one activity

Well… in that case, I hope you were out doing something you enjoy, like hunting, and if so, I hope it was a great outing!

King was extremely disappointed on that play and not getting the ball. He just stood there and didn't move for awhile. Vigen noticed and came over to talk to him as he came off the field.

He tends to lock onto Taco. Plays where he isn't primary he seems to go thru reads more. He did mention in interview he missed King for td. Getting that stuff an film should help him grow
