Serious question. When was the last time a Big Sky team was 24 points down to a ranked FBS team after just 19 minutes of play? What was the last BSC team to beat a ranked FBS opponent?
Perfect examples of how meaningless these games can be.
These kinds of games aren’t always meaningless. FCS Appalachian State beat #5 Michigan (2007) in an era when the Griz beat Appy State three times (2000, 2009, 2013). The Griz beat #20 Washington in 2021. Cat fans are quick to say that Washington was over-ranked, but how do we know Oregon isn’t over-ranked? Idaho lost to ranked Oregon by 10 points last season (I doubt the Cats would call a 10-point difference meaningless had 10 points been the final margin in today’s game). I think by not answering the two questions posed above, the question has been answered: We don’t remember the last time a ranked FBS team jumped all over an FCS team like today, and the Griz are the last BSC team to beat a ranked FBS program. Good luck this season! Sincerely wishing good health and good outcomes for the Bobcat program.
I don't know....because of past results against other FBS teams I think it's safe to say we are 30 point dogs to the Griz this year. Because of today's results, it's obvious we should bow down to the transfer station and hope we have a shot at year end.
Agreed. Fire Vigen and bring in 50+ transfers like Bobby because the griz beat 4-8 2021 University of Washington college football team.

Lamson was OK. Seemed to go first read a lot and tucked and ran pretty quick. Likely due to pressure but will need to hold longer for routes to develop. Had no run game. Is it due to lack of qb run threat or just Oregon d line. 3rd down conversion bad
D for most part didn't get beat deep but never got a stop. Several tackles where we just bounced off. Injuries to Taki and Dailey will hurt depth.
Very similar yardage stats to Idaho vs Orgon last year. Cats had more 1st downs than Idaho with Oregon about same.

i haven't watched the game yet, but 200 yards passing, no interceptions and no turnovers....
ok, no run game but against a top DL.....

i said it last year. 200 yards passing a game we win in the BSC with a legit run game. OL will be fine.just working out the last minute adjustments and getting some real challenges.

Thought it was awesome to see Cole Taylor get in there and thump. We're going to need him and Krahe this year. Taki getting hurt is rough but Bryant Meredith and JJ Dolan were going to play a lot this year anyway. Hope it's just a mild injury for Neil.

Hope fans realized we shifted our entire starting OL mid-week due to Burke dinging up his hand. Depth chart at beginning of week was:

LT Jefferson
LG Reed
C Mastel
RG Carr
RT Fleischmann

Actual unit today:

LT Zimmer
LG Carr
C Reed
RG Fleischmann
RT Jefferson

That is definitely not ideal going up against what Oregon beat reporters are calling one of their best DLs ever.

Our front seven failed to set an edge which isn't surprising given the opponent. I thought they competed better once they caught up to the speed a bit but their playmakers were way mismatched versus our young secondary (who I thought showed some fight throughout).

I think we have a lot dudes who want to fight for one another. Good luck to SDSU coming in to Bozeman and beating us on Gold Rush. It's going to take a great effort by them to win because our guys will be ready.

Hope everyone now knows why Taco got offers this off-season.
This is why I was questioning moving almost everyone out of position. I get the "we want the best 5 on the field" but shaking up the entire squad with a week before the best team they will play in a decade seems like a bit of hubris.

MSU gave up plays of 75, 66, 31, 31 yards in its 2022 home opener against McNeese, which went 4-7.

Other than those four plays they only allowed 100. Football and sports can be weird. Don’t take the events of one game too seriously.

Statistically speaking this game wasn't that far off from Idaho's game last year that ended with a 10 point margin. Oregon outgained Idaho 487-217 and had 31 first downs to 10 for Idaho. They outgained MSU 506-244 and first downs were 29-17.

Am I seeing things or does our punter a a little unnecessary hop/false step when he catches the snap?

It’s called it the ****** the pants side hop
when you have Oregon rushing your ass. His mishaps I’d blame on Oregon bringing the heat. Combined with our blocking. Thought he did great for the situation.

This was expected? Not according to the “Oregon Prediction Thread” here on the Bobcat Nation site. Nobody predicted this 59-13 boat race. Idaho held Oregon to 24 points. MSU allowed that plus another 35. The Vegas spread was only 29 points. At halftime, #11 Arizona State leads NAU by just 11 points. North Dakota almost beat #17 Kansas State tonight and lost it only in the final 30 seconds. To say the game in Eugene went as expected just isn’t true.

You may want to reread the prediction thread. It went as many of us predicted.

They don't have anything better to do since they need a Week 1 bye to rest up for the mighty... *checks notes* D2 Central Washington
