Downing is a freak athlete, he was getting D1 offers to pole vault. I bet he doesn’t play running back at MSU, instead he will be either a d end or linebacker, if I was betting. He is from sack, for sure, but let’s be honest. Haha

Not sure if it's Boom 4 or 5...or a new boom but Blaine Downing committed. His mom just announced on Facebook and Malta's head coach confirmed. Huge in-state get! Class B players have to stick out like sore thumbs to be considered FCS caliber and Blaine was a freak on both sides of the ball all year for Malta. Unblockable on defense in the playoffs. A Bobcat comp coming out of high school? Alex Singleton.
Seems to me (and I don't know for sure) that Malta kids always seem to end up at that other place.
Maybe ask Mike Kramer why that pipeline changed back in the early 2000s.
I don't have his phone number so maybe you could share because I have no idea. Seems like they've had some lady griz players out of Malta too.
They've had a strong Lady Griz pipeline for decades but the football side leaned heavily Bobcat until Mike Kramer told Lance Spencer he was too small for FCS football. Whoops.
Being from Malta, I can tell you right now the one of the biggest mistake Kramer ever made was to tell Lance Spencer he was too skinny and they didn’t see him panning out. Travesty, because that was a huge bobcat family. His dad is actually the one that started the Twinkie deal at Missoula. That is a fact.
Twinkie deal? No idea what you are talking about.

They throw twinkies in Missoula after a touchdown, and Lance Spencer’s dad started it. They ran a story about the twinkies last game on espn there, and they interviewed some wale that was taking credit for it. It’s dumb, but it sucks Lance’s dad started it because Kramer wouldn’t recruit Lance. Water under the bridge now, but it was the talk of the town when Lance decided not to go to MSU.

And they weren’t from Malta. There was a stud running back from Malta who played for Carrol.

They are still holding a grudge on a miss 25 years in the past that was made 4 coaches ago?

In that case, Hauck didn’t think Rylan Ortt was FCS-level even with a dad who played for Read and a grandpa who was a starter at QB for the Gris.

Tucker Schye wore 37 for the griz and he is younger than the twins.

Kind of like Macendoo showing up in Fairview Montana after he headed for Fairfield Montana not knowing the difference. He told Greg Hardy class C kids were not a good expenditure of scholarship dollars. Greg ended up being Big Sky all conference tight end. Whoops.

Tucker was two years older than my brother. So he graduated in 2014.

Demarais.

Less than fond memories playing him in HS. What a beast.

This really isn’t fair to Downing, but he has a lot of similarities to Brody.

What did Brody weigh his Senior year?

Downing is big, he looks like Neil (our linebacker) on the field and plays fast and hard. Got zero exposure this year but if you watch the game against
Florence this year he made the three time state champs look slow and small. He is a big kid. Taller than Brody out of high school.
