Imagine if 17% of your in-state tuition went to funding athletics (like JMU). You'd have to be a diehard fan to feel even remotely good about that. I'm a little surprised Waded hasn't come up with a way to stick the students with a higher athletic fee. This is the best the Bobcats have been at sports overall in the history of the university so it's probably now or never and Missoula would go along with it on their end as it seems like the kind of place that wouldn't have any problem paying more money to wear their ugly colors. It's generally a rip off for students but the front porch can look pretty nice.

MSU’s athletic fees are only about $80/semester, I believecoloradocat wrote: ↑Fri Mar 29, 2024 4:09 pmImagine if 17% of your in-state tuition went to funding athletics (like JMU). Re: Off Season random stuff 2024
This can’t be right. I swear we’ve been told it would be much easier.
“Having a high enrollment with high student fees would help an FBS move, like JMU. But that’s not the case for these top-tier FCS teams in the Midwest. And especially for schools like NDSU and the Montanas, there would be big political pushback in increasing student fees to help fund an FBS move. These schools would need to rely on donors and businesses to step up on a yearly basis. TV money, CFP revenue, and non-conference pay games wouldn’t be enough to get their athletic budgets up to par. You wouldn’t want to go from an FCS power to one of the least-resourced schools in your new FBS conferences. Or else it’s harder to compete, and the fan support you lean on could dwindle.”

Re: Off Season random stuff 2024
Yeah not great football, and was unfortunate he didn’t get to play. Though the second half was definitely better and a great ending. That kicker for Michigan probably won himself a spot in an nfl camp nailing a 63 yarder to win (twice actually, after being last second iced) with probably a good 5-8 yards extra on it.Camo_Cat wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2024 12:50 pmWatched for a little while and never saw him. I watched the second half and the ending was pretty exciting. I don’t believe they played any pre-season games, so it make sense that the play wasn’t great. Give the league some time to get better. I do like that they are trying out different rules that may be implemented in the NFL.kmax wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2024 6:06 pmYeah not great football, and was unfortunate he didn’t get to play. I feel the same way about pizza.
Anyone going to the pro-day on Wednesday? I see it's open to the public. I was hoping for some real time updates on BN.

Re: Off Season random stuff 2024
Meh...it's baseball season. Would rather watch good baseball versus bad football. Weather is getting nice too and it's time to be on the river. Would rather have a good day of fishing than watch bad football. I love football, but not that much to suffer through the UFL. There's a reason why leagues like the USFL and the XFL go bust. As will eventually the UFL...

The weird thing is all of those teams would, with equal time together, be favored against any college team. These guys are all either fringe NFL players or just a notch below, they’re developed adults, and still it’s difficult for them to put together consistently good offenses in these minor football leagues. Offensive line play is behind d-lines in these leagues and it’s pretty much always been that way in my experience.kmax wrote: ↑Sun Mar 31, 2024 6:06 pmYeah not great football, and was unfortunate he didn’t get to play. Re: Off Season random stuff 2024
Yeah, this is the NFL developmental minor league, but with time and money, it could expand and get better. They basically just threw together 8 teams, had a month long practice season, cut the rosters down, and started playing games. I believe the football will get better and better with time, that's if they can survive financially and I have big doubts that they will. I have noticed a big push on social media to get fans involved, more than I have in any other prior Spring football leagues. I do hope they can make it since they do have talent on some of these teams. I know the NFL signed some of the prior Spring leagues players to rosters. I also like that the league isn't afraid to try different things to make the games more exciting. I like seeing kickoff returns again. I also like that they are playing some games in cities that don't have NFL franchises.PapaG wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2024 9:10 amThe weird thing is all of those teams would, with equal time together, be favored against any college team. I know the final four is on TV, but I’m watching the Battlehawks game and O’Reilly has been on the field.
Decent crowd too.
You can see him on this play, #59.
