Welcome to MSU Coach! Here's hoping for continued success smashing everybody into submission every game and you help bring some of that Wisconsin beef to both the OL and DL during your time with the Cats!

P.S. Some of us older guys can't stand a team that throws it more than a half dozen times a game...
Well said. Bring back MSU’s traditional I formation. 😀

I love, love, love watching a team run the ball. Has anyone noticed that we’ve made made strong showings in the playoffs, and beaten the gris 5 of 6 since we became an alpha running team again? Thank you Coach Choate and Coach Vigen.

Perfect OL coach name
It would be if his name was El Johnson. Actually, that might be a good porn star name instead. :-k

I wanted to see the diamond again and missed it last year. Chamber, Ifanse, tommy, and taco/Johnson/TE.

And to really mess em up, throw a pass from TE to tommy.🤗

I really enjoyed the Delta Formation. Really looking forward to the spring game this year! I like to think we'll see more A-Gap Power this year with another year of strength and conditioning.

This will be the Cats this year:

I think this guy would have been a blocker for Ron Dayne.

You look at both North Dakota and South Dakota and they have kids from Wisconsin on the roster. Please let him go recruit there and Minnesota. Huge hire!!

I looked up his height/weight in his playing days. 6’5”; 305 lbs. He should be able to command attention!

I am curious…this dude was making like $275k a year to coach running backs at Wisconsin. I can only assume this is a move that he is hoping will open up a chance as an OL or OC job at an FBS school….or am I missing something here?

Wisconsin fired their coach last season, I assume their new coach didn't retain him and so he needed a new job.

It’s a demotion from his job at Wisconsin but also a promotion from where he was before that.

He’s a really solid hire resume wise for an FCS school as a position coach. He didn’t willingly leave Wisconsin though.

Overall I have been very impressed with all the coaches hired under Vigen. You can tell he is very well connected across the country.

The only one that I’m not completely sold on is the current DC…. Jury is still out on that guy (no pun intended).

This is what the Wisconsin web page says about him …

He might’ve had a multi year deal. That usually means he gets paid the difference between what he was making at Wisc and what he’s making at MSU by Wisconsin.

I don't know anything about the guy, but on paper, this looks like a homerun of a hire. Yet another great day to be a Bobcat!

Yeah former All-American center from Wisconsin who played at highest level for almost a decade and recently coached running backs while also being a high school coach and Division II Head Coach. He also started his own OL training academy prior to getting back into coaching which means he dedicated his career to coaching the position. Checklist:

- center
- Wisconsin
- NFL
- coached a position other than OL
- ran his own OL academy
- head coach at the Division II level

We likely only got him because Wisconsin had a coaching change in 2022. And I'm very excited to see what he can do with our boys! Between him, Udy, Beal, Walker, and Housewright that is a great group of coaches on offense (and sprinkle in Vigen).
