I wonder if any of the Tribe fans are making the road trip?
I would think there must be some that are closer than Williamsburg that might do so. Might take a little sense of adventure, but might be a fun trip.

Who is going to pose the question on their found site but still haven’t been approved. They need to find somebody else to run that.
The College of William and Mary is the second oldest in the country. So is their message board.

I’m coming up from Colorado with one of my boys. Looking forward to it. Given it’s a Friday night KO, distance, weather, etc., yy guess is you’ll be hosting 100 or so Tribe fans, including player parents.

Bought tickets on visitor side, but not in the W&M block. I wanted to be closer to midfield.

Not planning to rent a car. Will we be able to find Lyft/Uber rides to get around?

Any other advice to enhance gamely experience welcome. Thanks!

Hey Thomas Jefferson wrote that code, don’t knock it!

Here’s a trivia question What FCS program currently has two alums serving as NFL head coaches? Bonus if you can name the coaches/teams.

Yes you will be able to find Lyft and Uber. It might take a little longer than what you're used to, but we have them. Ride from the airport to Bozeman is about 20 minutes if traffic is good. Getting a ride to and from the stadium might be more of a challenge, but I've never done it so I could be wrong. Worst case, get a ride to Hyalite Hall or Langford Hall on campus and walk down 11th to the stadium, or try to get a ride to the Strand Union Building. They close Kagy Ave in front of the stadium on gamedays, so it can be a pain to try to get close if you aren't going to park.

Make sure you get into the game early enough to see our rodeo team lead the run-out. It's one of the coolest things you'll see.

We don't sell beer in the general seating areas, but we have a beer garden on the northside of the stands you will be sitting in (can't see the game though). If you want to drink during the game, get a plastic flask or put fireball shooters in your socks.

You're from Colorado so you should be aware, but for all of our other W&M guests, buy hand and toe warmers and wear long johns, because it's going to be cold. Wear boots if you got them. That thick winter jacket you never wear because it's too warm? Wear it. I can't stress how cold it'll be, especially for fans from coastal Virginia.

Final word of advice: have fun. We love our football, and we are more than happy to welcome visiting fans. Be courteous, be nice, and you'll get it right back from us. And don't mind the students, they can be jackasses sometimes.

Enjoy the game, and welcome to Bozeman.

Where is the "visitor" side? Joking mostly....

There is a small section on the visitor side but the rest if that us all booster seating. You will get some ribbing and friendly banter over there

I'll let someone else speak to the availability of Lyft and Uber, it should be fine from airport to hotel, to stadium, but not sure if it gets tougher to find a ride that late after the game? Also, there's a bar right next to campus\stadium called Spectators... it's usually hopping pretty good pre games, I'm sure it will be packed Friday evening with a fun crowd, if you're into that.

Went to look at the stats recap and saw Gardner Webb gave up the ball 6 times… 4 INT 2 fumbles. Lots of miss communication and bad throws versus contested INT. (B&K scored 40 pts off turnovers). I don’t see MSU giving up the ball 6 times. They amassed 33 minutes of possession with 6 turnovers. I would have expected to see that number in the higher 30’s like 38-39 minutes. They can be explosive and their pre-motion snap movement is a lot like ours, this will test the defensive assignments. While B&K may run well, long field positioning will hopefully lead to some stalled out drives. Their offense creates a lot of third and shorts, much like ours. Could be frustrating for fans, it’ll go both ways.

We must score TD’s in the redzone. None of this double deluxe reverse Hail Mary stuff... RTDB

I just don’t see them coming close to stopping our rushing attack, it’s possible we even pass more if they try and sell out on the run. But who knows, if it ain’t broke why fix it?

They will get theirs and we will get ours. I don’t see us putting up less than 380 yards rushing… another 150 passing our way as well.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

Mike and Sean were teammates and all-conference WR and S, respectively, for WM in the 90’s. Oddly enough, Coach Brian Daboll (Giants) was a grad assistant coach for W&M right around that same time.

Lou Holtz and Marv Levy are former head coaches at WM as well.

Echo the good advice above. You will be miserable if you don’t have good boots and don’t have the toe/foot warmers and hand warmers. Winds are supposed to be less than 10 mph based on current forecast but if it comes up a bit and in your face you will wish you had something like wind shear clothing on to cut the wind….ski pants work good. If it’s 15 degrees and wind comes up to 10-15 mph you will be glad you have the extra clothes..watch the weather. Of course having a bit of “pre-game fueling” helps too!

Bring something to sit on as the cold metal to sit on gets to you……. But then maybe I should tell you that you might be prepared to stand up most if not the whole game depending on where your seats are!

Be in line at least 30 minutes before the game or you might not make into stadium before kickoff depending on crowd size…. I think Gris game it was 45 minutes or longer. On sell out games lines are long and not enough metal detectors to get everyone through quickly. I don’t know what to tell you on tickets…..generally everything works fine using your phone but last game for whatever reason it seemed they were having difficulty reading electronic tickets at some gates….everyone is different but I print mine off for football.

I’ve had people use Uber/Lyft from downtown pubs before but as mentioned by other poster we are going to push 11 pm or later before game is done. Although Katy is closed right in front of stadium it is open to within 1/4 mile and they can drop you off there before game. But traffic around stadium will be an absolute freakin mess for Uber driver to get back to stadium after the game.

And if you get there early get out and walk the campus as mentioned. The bookstore in the SUB has some Bobcat gear if you want to buy it….heck you might not ever be back so buy a keepsake sweatshirt! Hopefully you arrive before dark so you can see the beautiful city/university setting. JAM was mentioned as a breakfast setting downtown on the Tribe board but for a traditional more laid back casual setting I always like the Western Cafe (downtown) or Storm Castle (by campus) and Nova (downtown) will work too.

A little more oblique but which former Bobcat player coached an NCAA National Champion (twice) and later was a NFL Head Coach at two different teams?

And the easy one, who was the first kicker inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame and was from Montana State?

A bus system that runs every 30 minutes and has like 4 routes isn't exactly convenient for tourists

More trivia for our W&M friends:

What one university in Montana invented Football, has the player with the most tackles on one play (9), has won the most National Championships since 2000 (27), and has been forced to expand their Champions Center trophy shelf due to lack of space?

Great info. Was planning on hand/toe warmers and ski gear/carharts, but had forgotten about the metal seat! Guessing we can bring a blanket to sit on. Though, I’d be happy to stand.

I see there’s a fee City bus, but it only runs until 10 PM. Any chance that gets extended due to the game?

We get into town around 2:00, so we will definitely check out Main Street and campus before the game. Would like to take a lap through the tailgate lot time permitting. Is there a main tailgate lot?

Thanks again!

More trivia for our W&M friends:

What one university in Montana invented Football, has the player with the most tackles on one play (9), has won the most National Championships since 2000 (27), and has been forced to expand their Champions Center trophy shelf due to lack of space?
Obviously, that’s the Griz and you forgot about this year, so the correct number of national championships now stands at 28

Hey Thomas Jefferson wrote that code, don’t knock it!

Here’s a trivia question What FCS program currently has two alums serving as NFL head coaches? Bonus if you can name the coaches/teams.
Tomlin and McDermott. Pitt and Bills.

A little more oblique but which former Bobcat player coached an NCAA National Champion (twice) and later was a NFL Head Coach at two different teams?

And the easy one, who was the first kicker inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame and was from Montana State?
I had honestly never herd of Jan Stenerud (little before my time), but what a great story! Leaving a link here for any other WM fans that wonder through.

Thanks!

Here is the link to the tailgate map. The stadium is on the south end of the map for orientation.

You’ll find a ton of tailgating all around the stadium. The tailgating atmosphere is awesome. A lot of it lies on both sides of Kagy Blvd, which runs right by the stadium. Kagy is closed to traffic on game day.

The vast majority of tailgates will welcome you in with open arms for food, drink, heaters, and/or a fireplace. Make sure you are wearing your team’s gear and you probably won’t even have to ask, someone will see your gear and invite you in.
